OFF isn't enough. LOCKED OUT is better.

A recent Queensland electrical disciplinary case is a good reminder of why proper isolation matters.

A first-year apprentice received an electric shock after coming into contact with an energised conductor while replacing a socket outlet. The electrical worker had failed to ensure all relevant circuits were identified, isolated, locked out and tagged.
The consequences? A reprimand, $1,000 penalty and additional training requirements.

When you're working on electrical equipment, don't rely on assumptions.
Identify → Isolate → Lockout → Tagout → Test

Because the safest circuit is the one you know is isolated — and that isolation is under control.
