It's starting to look like The Hunter War Memorial in Branxton NSW.

Great effort by artist Julie Squires and her colleague Frederick White, creators of the bronze sculpture of the digger in standing posture.
Excellent crane operations by Dougie Bull, no bull there!

Also a great effort by Alex Brennan Qadri Stone Pty Ltd managing the project and now on the final leg of this honourable project, tidying up, landscaping etc.

For us the job is done supplying and installing the outstanding Wollombi sandstone.
The 30 mm thicness paving tiles we supplied were installed by Qadri Stone Pty Ltd.

Well done team 👏

Access to some grave sites in cemeteries can be challenging.
Therefore Wollombi Sandstone has acquired a remote control Spider Crane.
This crane can walk through a standard doorway and reach 5 metre with a 2 tonne capacity.
Lifting heavy blocks of stone now with access to the most tricky places has become realistic and broadened our services.

Always nice to hear feedback from a happy customer ☺️

Stone essentially has no carbon footprint. Emissions occur during extraction, transport, and processing. Extraction and processing are largely electric these days, all suppliers have large solar arrays. Transport remains the weak link, due to weight, reducing distance is key. But all materials require transport. The biggest win in the decarbonization of construction with stone can be made by choosing a stone type and quarry that are well matched to the project’s structural needs, designing in a way that the stone structure directly replaces higher carbon alternatives, rationalizing the block sizes to the stone type, and focusing on options for dismantling building components so that the stone can be reused in the future (spolia). The second biggest win is the most common sense - accept that stone is a natural product, formed by nature and time. It is not uniform; no one can predict what will come out of the earth until it is extracted. Architects have gotten used to being able to reject stone (especially slabs) due to perceived imperfections (visual not structural). This produces an extreme amount of waste in the supply chain.
