We often get asked to build barn style doors for inside homes, but we don’t get asked to build huge ones to hang on the front of an actual barn… until now!!
The entire frame was fixed using traditional wedged mortise and tenon joints with tongue and groove VJ boards machined to suit the size of the doors. The doors were constructed entirely from Cypress Pine and are 3.2m high and span 3.6m wide when closed together.
We selected Cypress pine due to its outstanding natural durability. Rated Class 1 for above-ground use, the heartwood can last more than 40 years outdoors without treatment, while also offering exceptional resistance to termites and decay due to its natural oils and resins. Though technically a softwood, it is denser, harder and much heavier than other pines. Can’t wait to see these once they’re hung on authentic barn door tracks.

Today saw us say farewell to our old truck. The ‘Dyna’ had been part of our business for over half a century. Clocking up countless miles driving to construction sites, delivering furniture, transporting our sawdust bin and countless other work and personal tasks.
It had a few modifications over those years, new timber trays, new paint (it was once accidentally painted light pink due to somebody’s colour blindness 🤣).
Thankfully it has been sold locally and will be used for another business. So one day soon you might see it again… a different colour and business name but still driving around the streets of Maryborough!
