A heartfelt update from me ❤️

Things have been very quiet at Carrington Saddlery, and I need to be honest—if work continues at this level, it simply won’t be viable for me to keep going.

After 26 years of doing what I love, that’s a really sad thought. I’ve always been passionate about creating well-made, realistically priced saddlery, with options to suit different horses, riders and budgets. Seeing my work enjoyed by you and your horses has meant so much to me.

I haven’t made a final decision, but if things don’t pick up, this Christmas may mark the end of Carrington Saddlery.

I know I’m not the only small business owner feeling the pinch, and customers are doing it tough too. Fuel and everyday costs put pressure on everyone, leaving less room in the budget for those extra purchases.

If you’re able to, please support the small businesses you love. Buy what you can, however small it may be. And when spending isn’t possible, sharing a post, leaving a kind review or recommending them to a friend can still make a difference. Please spread that support around—there are hardworking people and families behind these businesses. ❤️

A little heads-up for this week 💛

It’s shaping up to be a slower work week here at Carrington Saddlery, with an all-day scheduled power outage by SP AusNet on Wednesday.

On top of that, my car had a few more hiccups over the weekend, so I’m currently stranded in town while they try to track down the problem. Not quite the start to the week I had planned! 🤦‍♀️

I’ll be fitting in work where I can, but orders and replies may take a little longer than usual while I work around these interruptions.

Lots of show bridles are heading out this week, and I love seeing them go! 🤩

I know some people are hesitant about anything other than leather for the show ring, but my Biothane show bridles have surprised a few people. I’ve even had clients hold one and tell me how lovely the “leather” feels! 😄

They have that beautiful leather look and feel, paired with the Carrington fit and design I’ve developed over years of making show bridles. They’re also easy to care for and a more affordable option, especially for a youngster who hasn’t finished growing.

Morning all! ☀️

Here are a few recent orders I managed to snap photos of before they headed out the door. I’m loving the range of colours you’ve all been choosing lately, and I always enjoy a challenge when you have something particular in mind!

Everything I make is crafted from genuine Biothane strapping. It’s waterproof, UV resistant and beautifully soft, with solid brass or stainless steel fittings. Once you go Biothane, you might never go back! 😉

A little Christmas reminder too: the weeks are flying by, so please get in touch early if you’re planning to order a gift. I’m happy to discuss lay-bys leading up to Christmas to make things a little easier.

Something I don’t promote nearly enough—but probably should—is our amazing pony-sized side reins!

Pictured here in Navy Biothane, they’re only fastened on the fourth hole and are shown beside a standard webbing side rein on its shortest setting. What a difference!

I’ve received so much wonderful feedback about these from customers, and it’s easy to see why:

They go as small as 23” on each side—that’s only 58cm! They can then be adjusted out to 34”, making them ideal for smaller ponies.

I’m especially proud of these because I designed them myself after years of having to tie knots in standard webbing side reins just to make them short enough for my ponies!

They’d make a fantastic addition to any pony stable—or a great gift, judge’s present or sneaky treat for yourself.

Sadly, we won’t be making it to today’s market 😢

Our car went into safe mode on the way there, so unfortunately we’ve had no choice but to turn around.
