Design Approval for Intersection ✅

Design approval has been received for the Christensen Road and Rosewood–Warrill View Road Intersection Upgrade for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR). The project now progresses into the final stages of road works approval.

Key improvements include:
· Widening the intersection with a dedicated left-turn lane and improved right-turn movements

· Bulk earthworks, pavement upgrades, and new sealed surfaces

· Installation of new stormwater drainage infrastructure

· Relocation of existing bus stops for better accessibility

· Chip seal surfacing, line marking, and hydroseeding

· Swale drain construction and rock rip rap for erosion control

· Upgrade of 380m of DTMR road to current standards

🌏 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 🌱

Today, on World Environment Day, we’re taking the opportunity to reflect on the steps we’re actively taking to protect and enhance our local environment – not just today, but every day.

🌿 We have a comprehensive 𝐑𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 that outlines the staged restoration of land throughout the life of the quarry.
🐨 𝐅𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 are present during vegetation clearing to safely relocate wildlife and minimise disruption to their habitats.
🌾 Native plant seeds were retained during initial clearing to support future revegetation efforts.
🦘 We’ve established 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭 𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 across the lot, which are strictly protected to provide safe refuge for native wildlife.
💧 Regular 𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 ensures we remain compliant and environmentally responsible.
🌊 An 𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲 runs through our site and is protected with care to maintain its natural ecosystem.
🌱 We’re committed to strong 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, ensuring invasive species don’t overpower native flora.

Big thanks to Queensland’s and Australia’s legendary axeman 𝐊𝐞𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧 for gifting Mount Walker this incredible bowl, spun from a single piece of wood. Woodturning by champion axeman Ken Jackson, showcasing almost half a century of woodworking expertise.

Ken, a neighbour of Mt Walker Quarry, has traveled the world competing in wood chopping tournaments, setting world records, and even meeting Queen Elizabeth II. After retiring from competition, he now creates stunning art with wood.

A true fountain of knowledge, Ken’s passion for Australian hardwoods shines through. Mount Walker Quarries are really grateful for this amazing piece and the incredible story behind it!

🌱 𝐅𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 🌱

At Mt Walker Quarries, we prioritize the protection of local wildlife during our operations. As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, a licensed fauna spotter was hired to supervise all vegetation clearance activities at the quarry site, including the intersection of Christensen Road and Rosewood Warrill View Road.

In accordance with the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐊𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐚) 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕, the fauna spotter closely monitored the site, ensuring compliance with environmental protections. According to the fauna spotter’s report, no koalas were observed during the clearance. Other fauna found during the works were safely relocated (or self-relocated) to adjacent areas with suitable refugia and feeding resources, consistent with individual species requirements.

The tree hollows were also inspected by a Queensland Fauna Consultancy fauna spotter/catcher who found and safely relocated a colony of 𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 to nearby habitat, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

The clearance activities were conducted with full cooperation from onsite personnel and machinery operators, ensuring that all procedures were followed respectfully and carefully.

As the Site Senior Executive (SSE), you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the quarry.
