👷 Comfab Projects ~ St George Hospital Redevelopment – Stage 3

Stage 3 has delivered a new Integrated Ambulatory Care Precinct, featuring an eight-storey Ambulatory Care Building (Kensington Street Building) designed to centralise outpatient, ambulatory and integrated care services across the hospital campus.

Construction highlights include three levels of basement parking, a new public forecourt with landscaped green spaces, and refurbishment works to key clinical areas including six operating theatres and three procedure rooms, plus upgrades to palliative care spaces.

The precinct also supports pathology specimen collection, a day rehabilitation unit, expanded sub-acute and rehabilitation beds, aged care and behavioural support services, enhanced diagnostic imaging (medical imaging and nuclear medicine), and a new Clinical Skills Centre.

A new two-storey facility built on the existing site, delivered alongside upgrades and refurbishments to selected areas to maintain continuity of services throughout construction. It consolidates major clinical functions, including the emergency department, medical and surgery ward, maternity unit, nursery, clinic spaces, ambulatory care areas, and associated amenities, all supported by modern building systems, upgraded utilities, expanded medical imaging capability, and efficient internal layouts.

The project also includes demolition of outdated structures, refurbishment of remaining operational zones, improved access routes, expanded on-site parking, and new landscaping across the campus. Integrated delivery within a live health environment has resulted in a modern, functional, and future-ready healthcare precinct for the community.
