Incredible! A stunning contemporary INFILL PLANE by Australian plane maker PETER WEBB with a BLACK & WHITE EBONY infill & dovetailed sides & sole in Peters unique IRISH CHARIOT PLANE pattern.

Superb lines make this plane look like it’s going 100mph standing still. A functional piece of art, it literally doesn’t get any better than this. One of the world’s greatest plane makers & he’s right here in Australia.

Every part of these planes are made by Peter. They are just superb - the mouth on this one is super fine 1mm only, he only does very limited production runs & there won’t ever be many made - each plane takes about 3+ weeks to make, and they are hand made by him.

A gorgous WILLIAM TYZACK SONS & TURNER 26” 6.5ppi crosscut saw with a BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD handle & a secondary retailer etch of JOHN HALL of CARDIFF. A very uncommon saw, freshly sharpened & tuned by Jim Anderson. Highly taper ground, a hard plate with razor sharp teeth & a rosewood perfection pattern handle with a period repair that is silky smooth. Available in store, DM for interest or give me a bell.

How to FLATTEN a vintage SHARPENING STONE.

We have cleaned this stone in Simple Green - please check how to from our previous video -
and we can now see that the stone needs FLATTENING as it is cupped & we need it flat. Flattening the stone is easy - we use a piece of 8mm float glass & 80g silicon CARBIDE POWDER with some water as required to lubricate the stone when flattening. We rub the stone back and forth until it is totally flat. I prefer having an old towel or cloth between the glass and workbench to cushion it slightly.

There you go, this is how easy it should be!

We have bottles of 80g silicon carbide powder on our website for $10.

How to CLEAN a vintage SHARPENING STONE.

In this video you can see us clean up an oily & greasy & very dirty sharpening stone using SIMPLE GREEN, a non toxic and non solvent based degreaser.

We totally immerse the stone in Simple Green for a couple of days, then rinse off under the tap. The Simple Green goes back into its bottle to be used on the next dirty sharpening stone.
