1. Site Selection & Preparation

The block you buy can have a huge impact on your total build cost.

Consider:

Soil type (slab design and excavation costs)
Slope of the land
Bushfire, flood or cyclone risk
Access for trades and deliveries
Orientation for natural light and energy efficiency

A block that looks cheaper can end up costing tens of thousands more if extensive earthworks or engineering are required.

2. Budget & Hidden Costs

Many people budget only for the house contract and forget the extras.

Allow for:
