Finally got to use my might Yamaha CL5 at "Iggy Under the Stars".

Big thank you to the staff, students and parents of Ignatius Park College for a fantastic evening of entertainment and display of talent.

Also a massive thank you to NQ Productions for all of your support and to NQAV For the assist with the PA. It's a great system!.

Also, I may have done a cheeky tune and time align :-P

I was the RIC (Rigger in Charge) on this one with and the Neighbourhood Productions crew. Throwing this up was a good way to spend a Wednesday arvo.

Assisting NQAV with rigging this beast....

I'm pretty stoked with how this one turned out. Not many will ever know or appreciate the elegance of the solution here.

The new Turbosound Manchester Line Arrays were going to obstruct the stair cases if they were flown in their original position (which a previously installed system was). This would definitely create certification issues. However the rig point couldn't be moved without significant structural alterations.

Enter the Advanced Rigger:
So to move the speakers 500mm forwards, we rigged a cantilevered mount that used 100kg of scaffolding counter weights 1000mm behind the rig point to counter balance the 200kg line arrays without putting any lateral strain (sheer and torsional forces) on the original rig point.

For good measure we also threw up a new lighting bar based on 8m of Global p34 box truss ans steeline flexible slings.

Introducing our Waves LV1 rig, your all in one problem solver.

Based on an enhanced Waves Axis One and Extreme X9 Compact Server, this unit has all the flexibility you will ever need in your studio, gig or production.

Available for hire with the Mercury Suite, CLA suite, Duggan Auto-mix and Traact system eq and phase align (inclusive of Smaart V8 and calibrated microphone) this system can be configured for any number of events, live or post production needs.

The rig can be deployed with 4 profiles to suit your needs and budget.
1. Full 64 Channel eMotion LV1 with FIT Control Surface.
2 64 channel Studio Rack
3. Full ProTools Suite for recording with either Waves Sound Grid or Dante Virtual SoundCard.
4. Hardware Only.

The i/o of this rig is beyond crazy!!!

The onboard DSPro 1000 provides 8 balanced preamp in's and 4 balanced line outs at up to 96k, as well as an AES3 in/out and two assignable headphone amplifiers.

The rig also sports a user removable DSPro4000 which provides another 32 mic preamps 16 balanced line outs, 4 AES3 in/out and another two headphone amplifiers and external wordclock i/o. This removable stage box connects to the main unit by a simple CAT6 cable to provide a simple multicore link up to 100m away. (Fibre solutions are also available on request if 100m isn't enough).

And just in-case that doesnt excite you because your using dLive, Yamaha, Soundcraft or Digico, there is also a 64 channel MADI or DANTE to SoundGrid bridge to enable integration into your existing setup. The bridge can also be co figured to bridge MADI to DANTE at the loss of SoundGrid. The bridge can also provide or be fed wordclock to ensure no clicks or pops ruin your show.

Have a problem mid show? No worries. An integrated 4G Modem ensures tech support can log in at anytime to assist you and the WiFi AP allows band members to set their own monitors from the eMotion Monitor App.

Kenn Melksham studied Music and Music Technology at the QLD Conservatorium of Music whilst sharpening his production skills at Citipointe Church Brisbane prior to joining the Australian Defence Force as an infantry soldier. Kenn later transferred to Signals after discovering he had a high technical aptitude within Signals Platoon. During his service he honed the technical skills he learned during his production days and added communications, electrical and rigging to his skill-set with an end-user driven focus. His very well known call sign in the communications sphere of the ADF was “Milkshake”.

Milkshake AVC (Audio, Visual, Communications) is a culmination of civil skills in production and music technology plus military skills and qualifications in the radio and telecommunications industries; allowing Milkshake AVC to consult, design and install production and communications services from a single lighting bar to a complete theater installation.
