Arthur Court probably was named in 1974 during the development of the first stage of Trunding suburb, then known as Neighbourhood 2. Old Comalco records indicate that the court originally was intended to be Archer Court, but for an unknown reason was changed to Arthur Court.

The streets in Trunding were named after common names of shrubs, trees and regional geographical names.

Arthur Court most likely was named after Arthur Creek which has its headwaters on ๐‘Œ๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜ ๐ท๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘›๐‘  station. The Queensland Place Names Search database states the creekโ€™s location as 12ยฐ 40' 01" South and 142ยฐ 30' 21" East.

When licensed surveyor John Embley surveyed the York Downs cattle station runs in 1885, he named Arthurโ€™s Creek on the โ€œYork Downs No. 4 Runโ€ plan (Survey plan C153.381, Cook Pastoral District, 1886). As Arthur John Cox of Sydney was one of the original applicants for an occupation license for the ๐‘Œ๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜ ๐ท๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘›๐‘  runs in October 1884, it is probable that Embley was commemorating his name.

Geologist R.L. Jack also mentioned that Embley was assisted with some of his surveys in the region by the prospector William Lakeland. Lakeland, who was based in Cooktown, was an applicant with Arthur J. Cox for the original ๐‘Œ๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜ ๐ท๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘›๐‘  runs.
