Among them, BSRM, PHP family, Abul Khair, KDS Group, GPH Ispat, Karnafully Steel, RSRM, KSRM, Anwar Steel, AK steel, Rahim steel, S.Alam ,Apollo Ispat are worth mentioning. As with the global market, there is also a supply surplus in the local steel industry: the current demand is around 4 million tonnes, while the total capacity is around 8 million tonnes. The government projects account for nearly 40% of total steel consumption. At the moment, per capita steel rebar consumption in Bangladesh is only 25 kg this is expected to grow to 50 kg by 2022."
