OFF THE GRID — AMANDINE FABRY

For Off the Grid, we welcome Amandine Fabry, whose practice sits between contemporary design and textile craftsmanship.

Through throws, wall pieces and other textile works, Fabry creates visual structures that play with perception, bringing together graphic language, materiality and cultural heritage.

Her practice explores the space between image and object, weaving textile narratives through colour, pattern and material.

OFF THE GRID — ANI BEDROSSIAN

For Off the Grid, we welcome Ani Bedrossian, a textile designer whose practice begins with one of the most fundamental elements of textile making: the thread.

Through drawing, sampling, colouring and mock-ups, Bedrossian explores its movements and interweavings, moving between artisanal and industrial processes.

Her work brings together structure, texture, colour and dimension, approaching textiles as both material and construction.

OFF THE GRID — STAN VREBOS
For Off the Grid, we welcome Stan Vrebos, whose practice explores temporary architecture, modular construction and considered reuse.
Working with rented construction materials and 3D-printed recyclable connectors, Vrebos develops ephemeral structures that can be assembled, dismantled and reconfigured.
By working with materials already in circulation, his practice questions conventional ideas of permanence and construction, turning temporary architecture into an ongoing exercise in reuse.

OFF THE GRID — OPENING NIGHT

To celebrate Materiatek’s first anniversary, we’re stepping Off the Grid.
On 24 September, we open the exhibition with an evening dedicated to ideas, practices and new ways of looking at design.

We’re pleased to welcome Piovenefabi for the opening talk. Founded by Ambra Fabi and Giovanni Piovene, the Milan- and Brussels-based architecture studio works across architecture, urban research, exhibitions and public design, exploring how spaces shape individual and collective experience.
For the occasion, they will share insights into their practice and reflect on architecture as a discipline that continuously questions context, form and the ways we inhabit space.

MATERIATEK × BDW — OFF THE GRID

We are excited to present a new exhibition curated by the Materiatek team for this year’s Brussels Design Week: Off the Grid.

Join us for the vernissage on September 24th. We will be welcoming Piovenefabi for a talk, where they will share insights into their practice and reflect on architecture as a discipline that continuously questions context, form, and the ways we inhabit space.

The exhibition, bringing together three contemporary practices that challenge conventional ways of thinking, making, and presenting design, will remain open from September 25th to 27th.

The artists’ practices navigate between ephemeral architecture, experimental textiles, and visual structures. Stan Vrebos, Ani Bedrossian, and Amandine Fabry each follow their own path, moving fluidly between design, craft, and art.

Off the Grid bridges different approaches, materials, and scales, connected by a shared curiosity for what happens beyond established systems.

A new Inspire Lecture Session is coming to Materiatek, this time with Brussels-based design practice HIER.

For the Love of Metal
A conversation made from words, swords and robots.
A material story, a design practice.

HIER will take us through their material-driven approach to design, from tailor-made objects and spaces to modular systems, exploring metal, production constraints, details, function and reuse along the way.

The custom metal structure they designed for Materiatek will also serve as a concrete example of their approach.
