We've had lots of interest in our Co-op Growing Leaders 4H Program!

Interested in joining 4H? Your Co-op will pay for your membership!

We are thrilled to announce that Pembina West Co-op has once again partnered with 4-H Alberta, Federated Co-operatives Limited, and 16 other local Co-ops as generous sponsors of the new CO-OP Growing Leaders program, an exciting initiative that will fund new 4-H Alberta members.

Each of these Co-ops will be supporting 4-H Alberta by funding new member registration fees for first-year members in the 2026/2027 Club Year and up to 50% for second-year returning CO-OP Growing Leaders Member applicants. You may be eligible to join 4-H Alberta through the CO-OP Growing Leaders program.

Thank you to everyone that attended our How it's Made: Popcorn event!

We learned about the different kinds of popcorn that are made in-store and sold on our shelves here in Barrhead and in Mayerthorpe!

Theatre Popcorn: Made from butterfly shaped popcorn with the delicious butter and salt flavours that we all know and love!

Flavoured Popcorn: Made from mushroom shaped popcorn popped in a special machine, then coated in a delicious flavoured coating!

Candy Popcorn: Made from the same mushroom shaped popcorn, but this time, it's added to a vat of melted sugar, flavouring and any extra goodies (sprinkles or chocolate bits depending on the flavour).

Each attendee could try the delicious, fresh popcorn (and take a bag home to snack on later!)
