A 77 Year Old Business!! Summit Home Center opened the doors to its new location on Oct. 15, 1997. They became members of Home Hardware Stores Ltd. in
1977.

But did you know that the business is one of the Crowsnest Pass’ oldest? It was in
1935 that Aldo and Rachel (Ray) Montalbetti started the first store in Coleman,
named “Modern Electric”. They were first located in a small shop on the side of the
Italian Hall where they sold and repaired small electrical appliances. In 1944, Aldo and Ray bought the 1907 Coleman Mercantile building on main street
and branched out into hardware and housewares. In 1955, they purchased the
Coleman Hardware building to stock with furniture, major appliances and bicycles. In 1968, Russell and Alice Montalbetti took over the business and renamed it “Pass
Home Electric Center”. Russ and Alice expanded again in 1981 with the opening of "HomeAll Building
Center”, in Blairmore. The family was now in the building supply market. Joining
the family business was Blair Painter (son-in-law) as Manager. The merger of three businesses to its current location in 1997 created “Summit
Home Center”. Today Summit Home Center is still called “Montalbetti’s” or
“HomeAll” by the locals. It is owned and operated by Blair and Cathy Painter. In 2007, Joel Painter joined
the business making it four generations in the hardware business.

What acute post! 📐✏️

Pythagorean Theorem Day celebrates the fun we can have with numerical date representation!

The Pythagorean theorem of geometry relates the lengths of the sides (a, b) in any right triangle to the hypotenuse (c) opposite its 90° angle: a² + b² = c². Similarly, the sum of today's squared month and day values equals the square of the two-digit year value: m² + d² = y².

There are only twelve Pythagorean Theorem Days each century, and today is the LAST ONE for the 2000s! Can you figure out when the next one will be in the 2100s? (Do you think you might still be around to celebrate it?)

👏👏👏

When you support a local small business, the impact often reaches far beyond a single purchase.

From sponsoring local sports teams and youth sports 🏒 to supporting community events, fundraisers, festivals, and local initiatives 🎉, small businesses help bring people together and make our communities stronger.

Behind many community sponsorships and local initiatives are business owners who choose to reinvest their time, money, and energy into the places they call home.

This Alberta Small Business Week, let's celebrate the businesses that don't just operate in our communities, they show up for them. 🫶

Our staff have been picking their favourite items from our M&M Food Market Express freezers every couple of weeks, and whatever they choose goes on SALE! 🌟Bonus: they get to take their picks home!

This time, it was up to our Dust Management Specialist, Micky, and she picked the Korean Style Beef Noodles! 🍜

Great choice! Even better, they’re $3 OFF right now, while supplies last!
