We provide high-quality products to homeowners, contractors, and builders while our affiliate companies manufacture windows. In addition, we manufacture roof trusses and custom stairs and railings on site. We are currently in need of a Trim and Door Delivery Person for our facility in Cambridge. This position requires the successful candidate to work outdoors, year-round in all types of weather.
Reporting directly to the Trim and Door Department Manager, the successful candidate will work with a partner to load, deliver, and offload hardware, trim and door orders to customers on job sites in South Western Ontario. Job sites include new home constructions as well as apartment buildings. Successful candidates must be able to walk up and down several flights of stairs while carrying a load. Valid Class G Divers Licence, in good standing, is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive in a safe manner, always following local laws and regulations
- Comply with all company policies surrounding delivery of material
- Ensure the correct loading and securing of materials in the vehicle
- Unload material at job sites as per Gillies Lumber policy or as directed by Site Supervisor, Gillies - Estimator, or Installation Crew Leader
- Unload material safely; make use of provided tools for unloading of material (dollies, lifts, ramps, etc.)
- Check that all delivery paperwork matches the material in the truck to ensure accuracy and completeness of the order
- Have constant communication with coworkers/supervisors about any issues during delivery
- Complete and hand in daily delivery paperwork
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications Required
-Reliability in attendance and completion of job duties
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Class G Drivers Licence
Physical requirements include
-Ability to work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions
-Heavy lifting; must be able to lift 60lbs regularly
-Sitting and for longs periods of time
-Frequently climbing up and down stairs carrying a load
- Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
