Welcome to the Star family!

We’re excited to welcome two 2026 Case Forklifts and a 2025 Western Star 49X Picker to our fleet.

These new units will help our teams move materials more efficiently, support safer yard operations, and strengthen our delivery capabilities for customers and job sites.

The countdown is on!

A few of our riders recently hit the road for a pre-ride in Pincher Creek to finalize the routes as we gear up for this year’s Ride Through the Rockies. With the route taking shape and planning well underway, excitement is building as RTTR2026 quickly approaches.

This year, we’re setting our sights high with a goal to surpass last year’s donation amount and keep that impact growing. Each participant commits to a minimum fundraising goal of $2,500, and every kilometre, every rider, and every supporter brings us closer.

A huge shout out to Curt Keil, who has already raised an incredible $11,450! Thank you, Curt, for helping lead the way and showing what’s possible when we ride with purpose.
Let’s start moving the needle on our goal. Our current fundraising efforts are at $24,275. We can’t wait to ride together, make an impact, and take on the Rockies once again! 💙

Qualico's safety leaders from across Western Canada and the US gathered in Edmonton for Qualico’s 4th Annual Safety Summit, a two-day event focused on learning, alignment, and shared safety goals.

This year’s Summit featured an inspiring session by Mark Hoosein, CEO of ACSA-Alberta Construction Safety Association, which brought together regional safety managers, coordinators, and partners, including Empire Envelope Star Mechanical Plumbing and Heating Star Building Materials Calgary, Gypsum Drywall Interiors Ltd. and WM Schimdt.

Now in its 4th year, the Safety Summit continues to grow as a cornerstone of Qualico’s Health and Safety Program by connecting people, and building safer workplaces together.

🌟 Job of the Week: Experienced EWP Designer

Star Building Materials Calgary & Star Building Materials Edmonton are actively looking for Experienced EWP Designers who have experience in one or more of the following areas: Wall Panel Design, Floor Joist Design, Roof Truss Design.

Location: 292109 Prime Close, Rocky View County, AB (behind the Century Downs Racetrack / Casino in Balzac) or 3735-8th Street Nisku, AB.

Designers may be based in Calgary or Edmonton.

The ideal candidate has:
• Post-secondary education or technical training courses in Engineering, Architecture or Drafting.
• Related construction industry experience can be valuable.
• Minimum 5-years of truss or joist design experience in the EWP industry.
• Proficient in both Part 9 and Part 4 building codes.
• Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, design principles, and building materials.
• Skilled in multiple technical disciplines of roof trusses, floor trusses and I-joists for complex structures.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel), drafting and industry design software (Mitek, AutoCAD, Revit, AutoDesk,) or similar.

Preferred Requirements
• Previous experience in the lumber and building materials industry is a strong asset.
