Hey everyone 👋

We’re proud to support one of our own — Jord, who’s been a valued member of the Sorrento Building Centre team for the past two years.

Jord, 31, originally from the UK, has been living and working in Canada on a two-year work permit that expires in February.

Since the start of the year he’s been pursuing permanent residency through Express Entry and the BC PNP, and with time running out he’s now working with an immigration lawyer to give himself the strongest possible chance of staying.

Canada has become home for Jord, and he’s worked hard to build a life and future here. The thought of having to leave isn’t something he’s ready to accept.

He’s raising funds to help cover the costs of the immigration lawyer and the process of applying for permanent residency. Any support — no matter the size — makes a real difference.

If you’re able to chip in, or simply share this post so more people can see it, we’d be incredibly grateful. Please like and share to help spread the word.

Thank you for supporting Jord and our Sorrento Building Centre family. ❤️🇨🇦

Fire Prevention Week is Here! 🚒

At Sorrento Building Centre, we care about keeping our neighborhood safe. October 4–10 is National Fire Prevention Week, making it the perfect time to run a quick safety audit on your home or cabin.

While you're working on your fall maintenance checklist, make sure to add these quick fire-prep tasks:

1. Check Your Smoke Alarms: Test them monthly, change old batteries, and fully replace any smoke alarm unit that is over 10 years old.

2. Inspect Your Extinguishers: Ensure you have working fire extinguishers in the kitchen, garage, and workshop. Check the pressure gauge to ensure it’s still in the green zone!

3. Practice Power Tool Safety: This year's provincial theme focuses on safe battery charging. Don't leave your power tool batteries charging overnight on a messy workbench or on top of flammable materials like sawdust or rags.

We carry a full lineup of smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and heavy-duty, certified surge protectors to keep your home running safely. Swing by and chat with our team to stock up on the essentials. 🧑‍🚒🌲
