Imagine cooling your home, car, or even a data center by 15°C, without fans, AC, or electricity.
That’s exactly what engineers at Zhejiang University in China have created: a paper-thin cooling film that reflects 95% of sunlight while radiating absorbed heat straight into outer space.
Field Test: On a 40°C rooftop, the film cooled interiors to 25°C, no power required.
Waterproof, dust-resistant, costs less than $2 per m², and can be sprayed or rolled onto roofs, walls, cars, or electronics.
Works year-round, doesn’t degrade in sunlight, and could slash global energy bills while fighting urban heat islands.
This breakthrough in passive radiative cooling could reshape how we battle extreme heat, sustainably, affordably, and at scale.
