The Höxterstrasse neighbourhood celebration brought us back to a project that began almost two decades ago. After hearing from the owner and fabricator, it’s our turn. 🎙️

Details worth making room for 🔍✨

Optimising costs doesn’t have to mean simplifying every façade detail. For Philipp Brüggemann of Henke AG, Höxterstrasse shows the value of trusting an architectural vision and carrying it through to completion. At the neighbourhood celebration, we spoke to him about the fabricator’s side of the project. 🎙️

The combination of different façade systems creates three distinct sections, giving the large buildings a balanced appearance and making them feel less imposing.

Working with ALUCOBOND® allowed the team to prefabricate panels off site while still making individual adjustments during installation — a practical advantage when working with such a detailed design.

Almost two decades later, Philipp takes pride in how the façade looks. He lives just around the corner and still enjoys passing by a project his company helped bring to life.

White as a canvas. Colour as an accent ✨

Colour can shape more than the appearance of a façade. Used selectively, it can draw attention to architectural elements and give individual areas their own visual identity.

At the heroal – Johann Henkenjohann GmbH & Co. KG building, ALUCOBOND® PLUS in Pure White (100) from the solid colour series creates a clean, consistent façade. Selected architectural elements are complemented by a special colour from Heroal, adding subtle accents to the design.

The result is a restrained interplay of colour and material that gives the building a distinctive architectural expression. 🎨

ARCHIPOINT Rivercruise 2026 – was bleibt? ⛴️

Fast einen Monat ist es her und noch immer denken wir gerne an die vielen persönlichen Begegnungen, spannenden Gespräche und inspirierenden Momente rund um Architektur und Fassadengestaltung zurück.

A blueprint for what came next 👥

At the Höxterstrasse neighbourhood celebration, we took the opportunity to catch up with Christoph Rehrmann of GWG Hagen . 🎙️

Almost two decades later, the project still stands out to him. The architectural concept was a decisive factor in taking on the refurbishment at this scale and today, he sees that decision confirmed by how little the façade has changed over time. For a housing company, that kind of longevity matters. Investments like this need to prove themselves over many years.

Höxterstrasse was GWG Hagen’s first project of this size and went on to become a blueprint for many others that followed.

How do you give 17 similar residential blocks a stronger architectural identity?🪞

For architect Andreas Hanke, the refurbishment of Höxterstrasse went far beyond renewing the façade.

His integrated concept aimed to break up the monotony of the originally uniform residential blocks by reintroducing clear architectural structures and proportions while also rethinking entrances and other parts of the estate. The result is a more differentiated architectural character within an ensemble that had once been largely uniform. 🏘️
