A couple of months ago I launched a little initiative called 'A Creative Pause' inspired by a great TED talk by Amie McNee who talks about how important creativity is to the human condition on so many levels.
I invited followers, friends, colleagues to join me for an hour of creativity on a Zoom call. I've done two now and they have both been such wonderful experiences.
I keep the format very loose and very intimate - with maximum of 12 people. I give attendees a prompt (completely optional) and then we each get down to creating something, sharing what we have done at the end (again completely optional).
So far people have joined from places far and wide across the globe... from the Pacific North West to Chile, Sweden, a little island off the West Coast of Africa (yours truly) and many places in between. We have shared illustrations, poems, written memories, collage, comics and paintings. I see this space as a permission slip to do something creative, to connect to new people and disconnect from the day to day (more necessary than ever!)
I'm hoping to make this a monthly thing and I'll be holding the next one this Wednesday at 8pm CEST. Previous 'pausers' have grabbed most of the slots but there are still a few left. If you are interested, you can join via the link in my bio (insta) or here:
