At Carrefour du Bois, from 2 to 4 June, you'll find Grupo Gámiz. But before the product, you'll find the people who make it possible.

In Santa Cruz de Campezo we are many. Three generations of the Gámiz family have followed one another since we started in this business.

We are a long-standing team of timber professionals who have learned over decades to recognise a good board with the eye and the hand, reading grain and knowing what each project needs the moment the client tells us what they're after.

Part of that team will be in Nantes next week. Face to face. With samples on the table, an open catalogue and the honest conversation that only happens with people who carry timber inside them.

A few days left before we head to Nantes. Will we see you there?

From 2 to 4 June we'll be at Carrefour International du Bois, Europe's leading event for the forest-timber sector. A showcase to present, up close, all the good things that come out of Grupo Gámiz: glulam beams, profiles and the European timber that more and more industrial customers and specifiers ask us for.

We're going as part of a joint mission with Baskegur, alongside EBAKI XXI, ETORKI Industria de la Madera and LANA S. Coop., under the collective brand "Madera del País Vasco / Bois Basque Country", with the support of the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Eusko Jaurlaritza - Gobierno Vasco.

At its last edition, Carrefour gathered more than 14,000 trade visitors from 40 countries. To put it another way: in the timber sector, this fair is, without a doubt, "where the action is".

If you have a project on the table or want to see samples and catalogue in person, this is a good time to sit down.

Building with wood doesn't only mean polluting less. It means turning every building into part of the forest that made it possible.

While it grows, the tree absorbs CO₂ from the air. When that tree becomes a beam, a board or a façade, that CO₂ doesn't leave: it stays inside the wood for the entire life of the building.

The construction site stops being a point that pollutes and becomes a point that holds.

For that effect to be real, three things are needed: knowing where the wood comes from, transforming it nearby, and making sure the piece is built to last for decades.

If one of those factors fails, the benefit fades.

At Grupo Gámiz we saw European oak, beech and ash, manufacture laminated wood and distribute Accoya Wood with that criterion.

Every cubic metre that leaves our sawmill in Campezo is designed so that the building receiving it gains years, quality and a favourable environmental balance.

Some buildings use wood. Others let wood write the project.

The new Faculty of Health Sciences at UPNA, in Pamplona, is now the largest timber building in Navarre.

It is a positive-energy building, free of fossil fuels, where wood leads structure and envelope from the very first sketch by VArquitectos and Bryaxis Arquitectos.

At Grupo Gámiz we have supplied both pieces: 80 m³ of Accoya Wood cladding on the façade (with a 50-year written warranty above ground level) and the structural laminated radiata pine beams of the curtain wall.

When a project calls for dimensional stability outside and laminated technique inside, there is no need to split the order between two suppliers.

Thanks to Hermanos Aldaz Remiro (joinery) and Talleres Inox (façade) for making possible a project that deserves to be discovered slowly.

When the structure of a building is so beautiful that it needs to be left exposed.

In the design of the agricultural training centre in Salez (Switzerland), something exceptional was achieved: the building’s skeleton became its main visual attraction.

This project, awarded the Constructive Alps 2020 prize, relied on our VIGAM laminated oak beams to shape its imposing exterior arcades.
