The final day of Future Land Forces 2026 is under way.

A recurring theme yesterday was that no single communications technology can meet every operational requirement.

Resilient land operations depend on a layered architecture in which terrestrial, satellite and HF communications each provide essential capabilities. Together, these layers connect forces across distances, environments and operational contexts.

Yesterday’s discussions raised a practical question: how can land forces turn growing volumes of information into faster, coordinated action?

One week to go until Future Land Forces 2026! 🇵🇱

Connectivity creates operational value when it integrates with the systems that forces already use.

Through standard IP interfaces, KNL’s CNHF can extend existing tactical networks beyond line of sight without creating a separate communications environment. This supports a more flexible architecture connecting different systems, technologies and operational assets.

At the NATO Innovation Range Capability Demonstrator in Oulu on 28–29 October, KNL will show how Cognitive Networked HF (CNHF) system can support communications between an unmanned ground vehicle and a command centre, where local communications infrastructure is unavailable.

The demonstration brings together long-range HF communications, an unmanned system and onboard data processing. It is being carried out in collaboration with Oulu University of Applied Sciences – Oamk, Offcode Ltd, University of Oulu and PehuTec Oy.

The event provides an opportunity to demonstrate and explore capabilities in a relevant testing and innovation environment.

KNL was pleased to take part in Team Finland’s visit to Japan, accompanying Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen and a Finnish defence industry delegation.

The visit brought Finnish and Japanese stakeholders together to discuss opportunities for cooperation, including at the Finland–Japan Defence Technology Seminar. For KNL, it was a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on defence communications and the role of resilient connectivity in a wider C5ISR architecture.

We look forward to continuing the discussions and exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Finland and Japan.
