iCare TONOVET tonometer iCare TONOVET tonometer for quick & easy animal eye pressure measuring.

The iCare TONOVET tonometer is intended for use by general veterinary practitioners, veterinary ophthalmologists and other veterinary medical personnel. TONOVET is the tool to accurately measure intraocular pressure on animal patients, as it is painless and therefore creates no anxiety. The tonometer is based on a rebound measuring principle, in which a very light probe is used to make momentary contact with the cornea. The device is easy to use and the measurement is barely noticed by the animal and often does not even cause corneal reflex.

Remember to look into your pet's eyes. They look at us when they're happy, curious, or asking for a treat. And sometimes, their eyes can tell us that something isn't quite right.

Redness, squinting, cloudiness, discharge or a change in the way your pet looks at you can all be reasons to take a closer look.

Not every change in eye health can be visible from the outside. Regular veterinary examinations, including appropriate IOP measurements, help protect your pet's eyes and vision.

What every cat owner should know?

Uveitis is inflammation of the uveal tract, the middle layer of the eye. It can have many different underlying causes, including trauma, infection, immune-mediated disease, or other systemic conditions.

The signs can be subtle, but you may notice:
🐈 A red or irritated-looking eye
🐈 Squinting or increased blinking
🐈 Tearing
🐈 Cloudiness
🐈 A small or irregular-looking pupil
🐈 Changes in behaviour or appetite

Importantly, uveitis can also affect intraocular pressure. Depending on the stage and underlying cause, may be lower than normal or become elevated due to complications.

How does tonometry work? Tonometry is the measurement of intraocular pressure, IOP. But how does a tonometer actually measure the pressure inside an eye?

With rebound tonometry, a small probe briefly contacts the cornea and rebounds from its surface. The device measures characteristics of that movement and uses them to estimate intraocular pressure.

The result is an IOP reading that can provide valuable information as part of a comprehensive ocular examination.

Your dog's eye is red. What could it mean?

A red eye can have many different causes, from irritation or inflammation to more serious eye conditions.

Redness may be accompanied by other signs, such as:
👁️ Squinting or keeping the eye closed
👁️ Excessive tearing
👁️ Discharge
👁️ Cloudiness
👁️ Sensitivity to light
👁️ Changes in the appearance of the eye

It's important not to focus on the redness alone. A veterinary examination can help identify what is causing the change and whether intraocular pressure is within the normal range.
