🗣Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

At Allendale Building Supplies, we're proud to serve the building trade every single day.

From the lads calling in first thing in the morning for materials, to the customers we're seeing throughout the day, we've built relationships with so many people over the years. We know the banter is a big part of the trade — but we also know that sometimes the people who seem the happiest, strongest or most outgoing can be dealing with things that nobody else knows about.

The construction industry continues to have high numbers of people struggling with their mental health, and sadly, su***de remains a serious issue within the trade.

That's why today is about more than just sharing a post.

It's about checking in on the people around you.

Ask your mate how he is. Properly ask.

Take five minutes for a chat. Listen if someone opens up. And remember, asking for help doesn't make you weak.

As a family-run, local business that has been part of this community and the building trade for decades, our customers are more than just customers to us.

At Allendale Building Supplies ,we know that things don’t always go to plan. Occasionally there can be an issue with a product, but we believe what really matters is how you deal with it.

When Darren had an issue with some decking boards, Stuart and Adam went above and beyond to help get everything sorted. They dealt directly with the manufacturer and made sure replacement boards were supplied at no cost.

That personal service is something we’re incredibly proud of. We’re not just here to sell building materials – we’re here to help our customers when they need us, whether it’s choosing the right product, organising deliveries or sorting out an issue.

6 years ago… can you believe it?! 😳

A throwback to the COVID times here at Allendale Building Supplies. 🦠

It feels like yesterday, but somehow it’s been six years since those strange and challenging days when everything changed overnight.

We had to adapt, put new measures in place and find ways to keep serving our customers while keeping everyone safe.

Looking back now, it really makes you realise just how much can change in six years!

Yes, that’s right! It’s the Vickers family home, which we still own today and which sits alongside our yard. 🏡

This photo takes us all the way back to 1980 — and we have to wonder… where was Paul off to back then?

Some things may have changed over the years, but the family connection to Allendale is still going strong!
