Henlow Building Supplies has been at the heart of the local trade community for over 45 years. What started as a small hardware and ironmongery shop on Henlow High Street in 1978 has grown into the trusted buildersโ merchant we are today. Founded by David Curson and his sister, Jan Sapiano, the business quickly expanded. Withi
n a year, Paul Sapiano joined the team, leaving his career as a hairdresser to help build what would soon become a cornerstone of the local trade industry. By 1981, Henlow Building Supplies was officially incorporated, and throughout the 1980s and 90s, Dave and Paul worked tirelessly to navigate the challenges of multiple recessionsโkeeping the business running seven days a week, including a dedicated delivery service. In the 1990s, we launched Henlow Ceramic Tile, and in 1997, we welcomed Madelaine Major, our longest-serving team member. That same year, we temporarily relocated to the old Redlands site on Arlesey Road, before moving to our current location at Stratton Business Park, Biggleswade, in 2004. The move allowed us to better serve local builders, tradespeople, and DIY enthusiasts, expanding our product range while maintaining the traditional values of personal service and expert advice that have always defined us. In 2018, we introduced HBS Kitchens & Bathrooms, offering a dedicated showroom above our main trade counter. Chris and Paul Curson, Davidโs sons, continue the legacy, leading the company with the same dedication to quality, service, and expertise.
