Huge congratulations to Jack, a former Colne Park High student now honing his craft at Aspden Martin Ltd. Jack is currently smashing phase four of his plumbing apprenticeship through Themis at Burnley College, and his hard work is clearly paying off.

Jack recently stepped up to the plate at the HIP Learner of the Year West Regional Heat. Not only did he secure a runner-up spot, but he did it with the highest score of any runner-up across the entire country.

Because of that clinical performance, Jack has officially booked his place in the 2026 Grand Final.

Meet Jack Martin 👋

Jack, 20, former student at Colne Park High, works for Aspden Martin limited, where he is completing phase four of his plumbing apprenticeship through Themis.

He went above and beyond as he stepped up and competed in HIP Learner of the Year Competition, where he came runner up in a West Regional Heat at St Helens College.

Jack was the highest-scoring runner-up from across all the regionals and will advance to the final, Jack will join the LOY 2026 finalists once the last regional concludes next month.

We’re very proud of Jack! 👏

Tonight, Channel 4’s new show “Guy Martin’s House Without Bills”, features Guy exploring what it takes to deliver energy-efficient homes to a high standard - looking beyond products to the practical realities of retrofit, skills and manufacturing.

We were proud to welcome him to our Belper factory in Derbyshire, where our heat pumps are manufactured. The programme features a snapshot of his time on site, showcasing the engineering, processes and people involved in building low-carbon heating systems in the UK.

Alongside wider discussions around insulation, ventilation and building fabric, the episode provides useful context for the direction of travel in domestic retrofit, and the growing importance of skills, capability and UK manufacturing across the sector.
