We are now a Knauf UK & Ireland drywall stockist!

Following feedback from our customers we have opted to start stocking Knauf plasterboard products with the first load arriving this morning.

This also means we can now offer a 9.5mm board, adding further depth to our range and a product you have been asking for.

We’re proud to introduce Martin, our trusted driver here at Forge Timber and Building Supplies. Martin has been with us since the very beginning and he started his journey with us working in the yard, he now plays a vital role in getting our products where they need to be. With his extensive knowledge of the area and a friendly, professional attitude, he ensures that every delivery is made with a smile.

Whether he’s navigating the busiest roads or finding the best route through tight spots, Martin’s dedication and commitment to providing excellent service has helped Forge grow into the reliable company it is today. He’s a key member of our team, and we’re grateful for his hard work, loyalty, and the invaluable contribution he brings to our operations every day.

Meet the team: Jack Tidd - ‘The Apprentice’ - Yard Supervisor and Employee number 1 here at Forge Timber and Building supplies.

Jack joined at the very beginning, showing huge courage to join a start-up business and demonstrates attributes daily that continue to help shape a culture at Forge which is steeped in offering un-rivalled service and being a true trade partner to the customers we serve. 8 months in, Jack now has a small team to manage and it would be easy to forget how challenging this journey has been, it certainly wouldn’t have been possible without Jack’s input.

Jack’s cheeky nature makes him a customer favourite and his previous experience working within sales means no opportunity is missed to ensure we secure every order and go the extra mile when a customer enquiry is concerned. Jack’s experience has allowed Forge to grow its team bringing in individuals with great attitudes from outside the merchant industry and train them on the products and processes of our business - No hiding in the sheds or customers loading themselves here!

We asked Jack what the future holds for him and Forge –

“Firstly I would like to thank Tom & Craig for giving me this opportunity to work in their business and help drive this company forward every day as I know Forge is their lifelong ambition. I would also like to thank Tony as he has shared his invaluable knowledge and experience with me helping me grow in this industry. And also the yard team, Martin, Andrew and Andy who work just as hard as myself to push Forge to the top!

Forge is now a big part of my life and I wish to grow with the company alongside this great team showing the industry how merchanting really is done. Growing into different roles within the business is my aim to really round off my understanding of merchanting and with this team around me I have no doubts that this will be achieved.

Meet the team: Tony Munkley - ‘The Governor’ - Non Executive Director here at Forge Timber and Building Supplies.

With 44 years of experience in the building merchant industry, Tony is a highly respected figure with an extensive career that spans multiple decades. Over the years, he has developed a deep understanding of the industry’s complexities and needs.

In his role as Non-Executive Director, Tony provides invaluable guidance and independent oversight, ensuring that the company’s strategic direction is sound and aligned with long-term goals. His broad industry knowledge and experience in navigating change and innovation make him a key asset to our team. Tony’s passion for the industry and his commitment to excellence continue to drive the success of the company.

We asked Tony about working at Forge and this is what he told us:

“Having spent most of my career in this wonderful industry, developing teams to deliver a great customer experience through fantastic people, it’s a joy to be back on the shop floor (literally) working in a truly independent business with the brilliant Team Forge. Craig brings over 21 years of expertise in the building merchant industry to his role as one of the owner-directors of Forge. His extensive background and deep industry knowledge have been key in building the foundation and success of the company. As a hands-on leader, Craig is passionate about driving Forge’s growth and ensuring exceptional service for every client.

He is dedicated to innovation and continuous improvement, always striving to stay ahead of industry trends and provide the best solutions. Craig’s commitment to quality and strong business relationships has made him a trusted figure in the company, and his leadership continues to inspire the entire team at Forge.

We asked Craig about why he wanted to Start Forge and this is what he said:

Started Forge as since joining the industry it was a life long ambition to open a merchant to deliver great service to the trades and beyond.

I love the fact that each day brings its own challenges, but beyond that, I get to work with a fantastic group of people who share our belief in building something special.

A big thank you to both Lucy and Reuben for putting up with the early mornings, late nights and weekends working. I promise it will all be worth it!

As Craig mentioned with the support from his partner Lucy, Son Reuben and those closest to him, he is driven everyday to achieve his ambition.

All of us at Forge want to take an opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has given us the opportunity to supply them, recommended us to friends/family/neighbours, or just popped by for a visit.

We are extremely proud to be part of the community and support you all with your projects.

A final special thank you to Joe Frankland from JR Fencing & Landscaping, as well as Dan and Jason, who gave up their Friday and Saturday morning to help us concrete a few areas in our yard that had seen better days. Your selflessness in giving up your time is something we can not thank you enough for.
