We are a Welsh workers co-operative, producing and processing high-quality timber products from local, sustainable sources - Certified .

Comprising a sawmill and secondary processing team, The Timber Cooperative uses softwoods sustainably grown in North and Mid Wales to create a wide range of high quality, organic, durable timber products. As a cooperative, we aim to create a pleasant and fair working environment for all of our staff, with equal opportunities, pay and decision making throughout our business. We also aim to offer local employment opportunities and upskill local residents in sustainablity and green building principles wherever possible. Whether your project requires large structural beams, small section studwork, cladding, fencing timbers - or even something more custom - our sawmill should be able to cater to your needs. Our secondary processing team also offer a kiln drying service for timbers destined for interior environments, as well as producing planed and profiled timbers (e.g. tongue & groove) and Shou Sugi Ban charring. Get in touch today to discuss your project - we look forward to working with you!

🔥 **Planning a community bonfire in Gwynedd/Angelsey/Conwy for Bonfire Night?** 🔥

We've got plenty of timber offcuts here at The Timber Co-operative that we'd be pleased for provide to local community bonfires.

Our timber is **untreated**, so it's a great option for a clean-burning bonfire without releasing the nasties that can come from burning painted or treated wood 🪵

If you're organising a local bonfire night and could put it to good use, drop us a message and we'll have a chat about what's available and arranging collection.

Please share with any local groups or organisers who might be interested!

A striking example of what can be done with Welsh timber: Anglesey-based Llechwedd Meats have transformed their building with our larch timber cladding and shingles, and we think the result looks fantastic!

Got a project in mind? Get in touch and let's talk timber 🪵

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Day alongside Arfon Timber Frames last Friday.

In our whistlestop tour, we got up close and personal with the sawmill and our secondary processing machinery, and looked at some examples of framing timbers, different timber grades & finished cladding and flooring.

Lots of interesting conversations and enthusiasm for what can be achieved with locally grown timber!

It’s Grown in Britain Week, so as a certified member it seems like a good time to showcase something we’re pretty passionate about — home-grown timber.

A lot of the timber used in the construction industry has travelled a long way before it reaches site. Our timber starts much closer to home in sustainably managed Welsh woodlands, before being processed here in Caernarfon.

From structural timber and cladding to flooring and specialist products, we’re constantly looking at how we can make the most of each log.

And we want more builders, architects and designers to discover what’s possible using this local natural resource. That’s one of the reasons why we’re opening our doors on Friday 23rd October, alongside Arfon Timber Frames. 🌲 Save the date - More details coming soon!
