Remember that sluggish computer in my last post? Here's how to fight back and get it running smooth again!

There are several ways to improve your computer's performance, from simple tweaks to hardware upgrades. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Basic Maintenance:

Restart your computer regularly: This frees up RAM and clears temporary files, which can slow things down.
Close unused programs and browser tabs: The more programs you have running, the more resources your computer is using.
Update your operating system and drivers: Updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
For organisations that have manager service as per software deployment and policy regarding basic updates, raise a ticket with your IT department for some updates may not be compatible with your internal applications.

Storage Management:

Uninstall unused programs: Unnecessary programs can take up space and resources.
Clean up temporary files: These files can accumulate over time and clutter your hard drive.
Defragment your hard drive (HDD) or TRIM your solid-state drive (SSD): This optimizes how your storage device reads and writes data. (Note: TRIM is not necessary for HDDs)
Consider using cloud storage or an external hard drive: If your hard drive is full, it can slow down your computer.

Hardware Upgrades:

1. Upgrade your RAM: RAM is your computer's short-term memory, and having more of it can significantly improve performance.
2. Upgrade your storage drive: If you're using a traditional hard drive (HDD), consider upgrading to a solid-state drive (SSD). 3. SSDs are much faster and can dramatically improve boot times and overall responsiveness.

These are some basic steps you can take to speed up your computer. If you're still having problems, you may want to consult a technician https://t-hill.co.uk for further diagnosis.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a great security measure but there can be some bumps along the road. Here are some common errors users encounter:
• Not getting the verification code: This can happen for a few reasons. Maybe your phone is out of service, in airplane mode, or the number associated with your account is outdated. It's also possible your carrier is blocking spam texts which might include the verification code.
• Issues with the authentication app: Sometimes the app itself can be the culprit. Make sure you have push notifications enabled for the app and your device. If that doesn't work, try closing the app completely and restarting your phone.
• Time desynchronization: MFA codes are often time-sensitive and rely on your device's clock being accurate. If your phone's time isn't synced up correctly, the codes you generate might not be accepted.
• Lost phone or broken device: If your phone is lost, stolen, or damaged, you'll need a backup method for MFA.This could be a security question, a registered backup device, or printed one-time codes.
