Big results from a recent customer project with SYIL UK in Rotherham.

A customer had been machining a legacy part manually for over a decade - but with an hour and 15 minute cycle time, tolerance issues and major consistency challenged when producing an internal spline profile it was time for a rethink.

We proved out the process on the SYIL L3 turning centre, using a WTO reciprocating broaching unit and Simtec broaching tools - all tooled up by Cutwel.

By moving the process to CNC, the cycle time was cut down to just 3 and a half minutes. The result? Cycle time reduced by over 95% with accuracy and repeatability transformed.
