Brian Dent Limited are requiring an experienced 180 Excavator operator to operate a JCB 3CX in the Chorley/Burscough Area.

NPORS or CPCS certifications and a clean driving licence are essential.

Hours of work would be Monday to Friday - 39 Hours per Week.

❄️ Our gritting teams are already in action today, treating the roads before temperatures fall to freezing this evening.

🌨️ They'll be gritting again later on and patrolling throughout the night to monitor for icy spots as a weather front is forecast to arrive in the middle of the night which could fall as wet snow even to lower levels initially before turning to rain. There could be more snow over high higher ground.

🧊 The difficult conditions mean that even roads which have been gritted could be icy. Please take care on Sunday morning as roads and pavements could be particularly slippery as the snow and rain falls on freezing surfaces.

‼️ PLEASE SHARE - HODDER VALLEY SHOW UPDATE ‼️

Due to the unfortunate bad weather and condition of the Show Field, the Hodder Valley Show Committee has made the difficult decision to change the plan for tomorrow's Show Day. Please see full details below:

💐🍰🪡 HORTICULTURAL EXIBITIONS 🪡🍰💐 (this includes all classes entered in the Baking, Floral, Handicraft, Photography, Vegetables & Fruit, Young Farmers Handicraft, and Children's Sections)

The Horticultural Exibitions will now be held at Duckmire Farm, Chapel Street, Slaidburn, BB7 3ES. Please still bring along all your bakes and makes - timings remain the same (drop off between 8 and 8.45am). As usual, we also welcome everyone to come and view the displays once they have been judges (from 12:30pm)

🌱🌾 FORAGE/HAY CLASSES 🌾🌱 - these classes will continue to go ahead alongside the Horticultural Classes tomorrow at Duckmire Farm, Slaidburn

🥪☕️ PRESIDENTS GUESTS AND HVS LIFE MEMBERS LUNCHEON - This will now be held at Newton-in-Bowland Village Hall, BB7 3DY

🥪☕️ JUDGES / STEWARDS / GENERAL PUBLIC LUNCHEON - This will now be held at Slaidburn Village Hall, BB7 3ES. Lunches will also be available to buy on the day, subject to availability.

⚠️🐮🐏⚠️ LIVESTOCK - Unfortunately, all livestock classes have been cancelled. The Sheep Dog Trials are also cancelled.

❌️🏃‍♀️ FELL RACE - for safety reasons, unfortunately the Fell Race has also been cancelled.

💥 TRADE STANDS 💥 our committee is currently in the process of contacting all businesses that have booked Trade Stands to let you know that they are cancelled. If you have any concerns and would like to contact us in the meantime, please call Karen Swindlehurst (07977 581299)

🎫 TICKETS - For those who have bought tickets in advance, these will be valid to use at next year's show. Luncheon Tickets will still be available to use at Slaidburn Village Hall tomorrow (Saturday 13th September 2025)

As a Committee we are disappointed about the situation, but hope we can still make a good day tomorrow with the few events going ahead.

Apologies to those who were looking forward to the Show Day, we will hopefully have some better luck (and weather!) next year 🤞
