Saving the Black Swans 🖤🦢

This morning at 5:30, I had a message from Adam at Dawlish Building Supplies letting me know the swans had somehow ended up right at the bottom of the brook, on the wrong side of the safety gates.

Not ideal at any time, but with high tide only around an hour or two away, and spring tides as well, this could have become very serious, very quickly.

So we came up with a very technical rescue plan… involving a ratchet strap from Adam’s van and a bit of careful swan ushering under the bridge.

Thankfully, with patience, teamwork, and some gentle encouragement, we managed to guide them back through to safety, where they belong.

Huge thanks to Adam for spotting them and helping get the plan together.

It really could have saved them, but just another normal morning on Dawlish Brook, really.

We were delighted to be showcased in this fantastic video exploring the history of our shop and its place in Dawlish over the years.
