The easiest way to elevate a coffee table.....

Our brand new bobble bowls have arrived at Teggart & Son’s Home and they’re already becoming a favourite for coffee table styling and neutral home décor lovers.

The soft scalloped bobble edge adds that perfect touch of texture while keeping the look minimal, calm and beautifully styled.

Use them as a decorative centrepiece bowl, fill them with candle sand, or style them with your favourite seasonal décor pieces.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make a coffee table look styled but effortless, this is the piece.
Perfect for:
• coffee table styling
• console table décor
• kitchen island centrepieces
• spring home styling

A simple bowl... but it instantly makes the whole space feel more luxurious and curated.

Well… the week has ended on a slightly better note 😅and well I honestly couldn’t let things settle down again without saying something 🫶

After our recent post, we honestly didn’t expect the response we got. The messages, shares, comments and customers popping in to say “seen your post” has genuinely lifted all of us here at Teggart & Sons. ☺️

We know people have endless options nowadays — big chains, next-day delivery, online bargains at 11 o’clock at night while sitting in pyjamas eating crisps (we’re guilty too 👀) — so the fact people still choose to walk through our door means a lot.

This week we’ve seen a real upturn in business, and honestly, it’s given us a much-needed boost.

Looking back at this photo also reminds us just how far we’ve come since the flooding. At the time, standing in an empty shell of a shop, we genuinely didn’t know what the future would look like.

Every tablecloth, candle, door mat, little home accessory and those “I’m only coming in for one thing…” purchases help more than you probably realise 😂

So thank you for supporting a local family business and helping keep shops like ours going.

I also want to say a huge thank you to our amazing staff, who keep the place going every single day. Through the difficult times, the rebuilding, the long days and everything in between, they’ve shown nothing but hard work, loyalty and patience — and we honestly couldn’t do it without them ❤️

We’ll be open Bank Holiday Monday from 10am–5pm, so if you’re about, call in and say hello 👋

And if you don’t need anything… you probably will once you walk around the shop long enough 😄

William Morris is having a bit of a renaissance — and we’re here for it. 🌿

From kitchen favourites to post-gardening toiletries, we’ve got a lovely range inspired by the iconic prints. 🧴

I’ll be honest - I was a little apprehensive about putting that post out there. 😬

I always try to adopt a positive mindset and approach, and sometimes it can feel easier to focus only on the good.

But I'm genuinely glad I shared it, because the feedback and conversations that followed have been incredibly valuable. 🗣️

So many people have also taken the time to leave such lovely, supportive comments, and I have to reiterate this - people are good ☺️🫶

For the last 6 years, the support shown to our business and has been incredible, and I will never lose faith in that side of things. Even in difficult times, people still want to support local when they can, and that means more than you know. 🙏

A few things really stood out from the discussion:
• Parking and accessibility
• A need for a better variety of shops
• More affordable homeware options
• The reality of the current cost of living pressures many families are dealing with

As a small independent business, I know I can't compete with the buying power of the big chains
- but what I can do is listen, evolve and work harder behind the scenes. 👊

We'll absolutely be doing our homework, negotiating better pricing with suppliers where we can, and looking at bringing in more affordable ranges without compromising on quality. 💯

We're also exploring products and brands that aren't already available locally, because we want to offer something different and give people more reasons to shop local. 🏬

Change doesn't happen overnight, but please know your feedback matters and it is shaping the direction we move in 😉

We’re so grateful for the incredible kindness shown by the team at The Lobster Pot in Strangford 🦞

This weekend, any customer who makes a purchase in our store can avail of a FREE drink at the lovely Lobster Pot — simply show your receipt when you visit 🍻☕🥤

Such a thoughtful gesture and a beautiful reminder of how supportive and caring our local community really is. 💞🙌

Today, for the first time in a very long time, our shop didn’t make a single sale. 🥺

That’s hard to say out loud, but it also raises questions we genuinely don’t know the answers to.

Are people still coming into bricks-and-mortar shops? 🏬
Are people still shopping in Downpatrick? 🛒
Is retail changing faster than towns like ours can keep up with? 📬
Or are we simply doing something wrong?

We’re not posting this for sympathy. We know everyone is under pressure right now, households and businesses alike.

But as a small independent shop, days like today make us question what the future looks like. Rising overheads, electricity, stock costs and wages don’t stop on quiet days, and small towns only survive when people use them.

So we’d genuinely like to ask:
🌼What makes you choose to shop locally?
🌼What would encourage you into town more often?
🌼What could businesses like ours do better?

We’d really value honest feedback — good or bad.

And to everyone who continues to support local businesses in Downpatrick: thank you. It means more than you probably realise. 🫶
