It's World Water Week: How much water does your shower actually use?

It’s something most people never think about, but it can be one of the biggest sources of water (and energy) use in the home.

A typical UK shower uses 10 – 15 litres per minute, meaning a single shower can easily reach 100 litres or more.

Multiply that across a household, and the impact adds up quickly.

One of the simplest ways to find out your own usage is the “bucket test”:

Run your shower for 30 seconds over a bucket or jug, measure how much water you collect and double it - that's your litres per minute!
