"Providing safe access for a solar installation on a listed jute mill… while it’s open to the public, not your everyday scaffolding project.

For April’s Project of the Month, we’re recognising Scaffolding & Access Supplies Ltd for their work at Verdant Works in Dundee, where heritage constraints, public access, and modern sustainability had to be carefully balanced.

The team were responsible for designing, supplying, and installing a bespoke scaffold solution to support the solar installation works, ensuring safe roof access while protecting the integrity of the historic building.

With restricted courtyard space, listed building requirements, and live foot traffic, the solution included a tied scaffold design, a staircase tower within the courtyard, a loading bay into the car park, and bridging over skylights, all adapted to the building’s natural curvature.

Using SMART Estimator, the team were able to develop accurate designs, streamline quotations, and keep both internal teams and clients aligned, helping ensure a smooth and efficient delivery from start to finish.
