Most training days send you home with a certificate and a business card. That isn't enough to win work.

Day one is in Halifax. You cover the product, the application, the safety, and the business side: pricing, quoting and marketing to win business. The bits most training programmes skip.

Day two is on a real job. Jamie or Luke are on site with you, not observing from a distance. You work, they support, and you leave as an Approved Applicator.

Two days on site. Day one is classroom and warehouse: the product, the science, the prep, the application technique, safety. Day two is more hands-on: you're spraying, you're asking questions, you're getting the feel of it.

The goal isn't to certify you for the sake of a certificate. It's to send you home confident enough to quote a job next week and deliver it the week after.

Ben Duggan joined our applicator network earlier this year. This is him on day two of training - prep, application, and the conversation about what happens once the training day is over.

The tools are one part of it. The business side matters just as much: leads, pricing, marketing, and having someone to call when you need some guidance on a job.

That's the part we've been quietly rebuilding. We'll have more to say about it across May and June.

When a product is new to you, the first question is usually the simplest: what's actually in it?

Here's Jamie with the short answer. CorkSol SprayCork™ is approximately 71% cork by volume on average across the range. The rest is a water-based binder that holds the cork together and bonds it to the wall. No solvents. No VOCs. Supplied in recycled plastic tubs.

The cork itself comes from cork oak bark. Harvesting the bark doesn't fell the tree, so the same forest keeps producing for generations. Every square metre of CorkSol SprayCork applied offsets around 4kg of CO2.

It's a natural product doing a technical job. That combination is rarer than it should be in construction.

Older homes tend to have solid walls. Solid walls handle moisture in a specific way. They absorb it, they release it, they breathe with the seasons.

When you put a non-breathable coating over a solid wall, that process stops. Moisture gets in and has nowhere to go. The wall stays wet behind the coating.

That's the story behind a lot of failed render and a lot of mystery damp patches in older houses.

CorkSol SprayCork™ is Class II vapour permeable (tested to BS EN 7783-2:1999). It lets moisture pass through as vapour rather than trapping it. The wall behind it stays able to do what a solid wall is built to do.
