Set within the Grade II listed 1929 Ballroom Wing at Claridge’s, renowned interior designer Bryan O’Sullivan unveiled his inaugural collection of furniture, lighting and home furnishings within an intimate new gallery space.

The interior is representative of O’Sullivan’s approach - playful forms, confidence with colour, and a refined layering of historical references.

Clayworks Rustic Ombré clay plaster adorns the walls and ceilings - a textural counterpoint to the sleek glass and metal elements within the collection. Overhead, a hand-painted celestial mural by artist Sam Wood reinforces the layered artistry and craftsmanship at the heart of the project.

Clayworks Demi-Rustic offers a more pronounced texture than our Smooth finish, bringing depth and character to a seamless clay surface. Its tactile quality creates a sense of weight and grounding, while natural tonal variation enhances the surface with warmth and presence. Expressive yet balanced, Demi-Rustic celebrates the raw beauty of clay in a finish that feels timeless and elemental.

This reimagined Victorian maisonette by Nimtim Architects has been transformed into a crafted sanctuary in the city. The design balances open plan spaces with intimacy through carefully considered spatial interventions.

A consistent datum line drawn from the original garden wall continues throughout the interiors, initially by the continuation of a similar brick internally and then by the introduction of a picture rail or a subtle shift in material texture.

Clayworks Rustic Arakabe and Demi-Rustic finishes were applied to the walls and ceilings, bringing texture, depth and material presence to the heart of the home.

As the construction industry continues to rethink the relationship between buildings and wellbeing, the materials used to shape interiors are coming under greater scrutiny. In 2026, the impact of the materials architects and designers choose on occupant health is being understood and prioritised more than ever before. Google searches for ‘VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)’ are now four times higher than in 2022, while searches for ‘healthy homes’ and ‘healthy interiors’ have increased five-fold.

In this month's journal, we explore the unique role clay plaster can play in creating healthier indoor environments, as well as the renewed cultural and architectural interest in earth-based materials, featuring projects including Tuckey Design’s Rammed Earth House and Delcy Morelos’ installation origo at the Barbican.

Located in the heart of London’s design district, Solus Ceramics’ showroom replaces the conventional sample repository with a dynamic cultural hub - a place for storytelling, exhibitions and creative exchange.

Following extensive sampling, a custom Clayworks Rustic clay plaster was selected as the wall finish of choice throughout key spaces. Combined with crushed discontinued samples from the old Solus showroom - a rare example of post-consumer ceramic recycling, the resulting finish is a bespoke, tactile surface that offers performance, material beauty and genuine sustainability credentials.

Set within the iconic Heal’s Building on Tottenham Court Road, First Quantum Minerals’ London headquarters subtly references the language of mining, with tones inspired by zinc, copper and azurite layered throughout to create depth, richness and a strong sense of identity.

Features walls adorned with our Rammed Earth Finish guide visitors from the reception into the workspaces beyond. Hand-carved with a debossed logo, this finish offers a sculptural expression of the brand, connecting the headquarters to the raw materials at the heart of First Quantum Minerals’ work.

The Cloud House is a carefully composed urban retreat, transforming a constrained London site into a tangibly calming home. Inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s watercolour and pencil studies ‘Interior of an Italian Church’, the project is shaped by arched windows, natural light and a restrained palette of weathered chestnut, concrete, and clay plaster in two light and airy shades that complement the spaces within.

Set on a constrained triangular plot between Highgate and Hampstead Heath, Balmore House is a refined example of a deep retrofit and extension, where natural light and modern living are prioritised. Ground floor additions to the rear and side maximise the available footprint, while glazed sliding pocket doors blur the boundary to the garden, creating an indoor-outdoor living experience of real generosity.

Our smooth clay plaster in an earthy, n**e tone brings warmth and texture to the new interiors, complementing finely crafted joinery and gently contrasting with the polished concrete floors and crisp Portland stone facing beyond.

Our award-winning Rammed Earth Finishes have been developed as an answer to the complex and technical challenges of building with monolithic mass.

The result is a more adaptable and cost-effective approach that also contributes to the performance of the building fabric, softening acoustics and thermal variations, and offering moisture control and breathability.
