Post Office Horizon debacle?

If anything, this gross miscarriage of justice highlights 2 fundamental - and often unspoken - failures in our "great democracy" :

Firstly, that for decades every UK Government - regardless of the ruling political party - has been unwilling to challenge Big Business, preferring to let hundreds of innocent people be victimised instead of questioning received wisdom from self-serving CEOs.

and Secondly, that the UK Courts system is fundamentally broken through outdated systems, fragmented operations and insufficient capacity to cope with demand -- to the point that this weakness is regularly weaopanised and exploited by companies engaging in predatory behaviours.

The mere fact that nobody in either of these "great" (and once internationally revered) institutions seemed to raise any concern that there might be a systemic problem with Post Office Ltd -- despite over 700 prosecutions of diligent, upstanding working-class citizens -- is a national tragedy and an indictment of our "civilisation".

Each major Party has seriously neglected its civic duty by not addressing these issues.

No wonder that both trust in our Administration and our international credibility are at a historic low, and our best & brightest minds are emigrating to new, modern jurisdictions.

I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I am 83 years old and I was in the McDonald’s drive-through this morning and the young lady behind me leaned on her horn and started mouthing something because I was taking too long to place my order. So when I got to the first window
I paid for her order along with my own. The cashier must have told her what I'd done because as we moved up she leaned out her window and waved to me and mouthed "Thank you.", obviously embarrassed that I had repaid her rudeness with kindness.
When I got to the second window I showed them both receipts and took her food too. Now she has to go back to the end of the queue and start all over again,
Don't blow your horn at old people, they have been around a long time.
