This one really is a beauty.

A refit at Durham Castle called for traditional black hardware that would sit comfortably within its centuries-old setting — the kind of ironmongery that looks as though it has always belonged there.

We supplied a suite of heritage-style black ironmongery to complement the existing hardware, while still delivering the reliability and performance a working historic site needs today. From hand-finished k***s and escutcheons to decorative strap hinges and discreet modern closers, every detail was selected to respect the fabric of the building without compromising everyday usability.

Working on heritage projects in older buildings demands a special set of skills, great craftsmanship and sensitivity to making an old building work in the 21st century. The palette for our project at Ampleforth College uses bespoke modern hardware in an antique brass finish to match the existing ironmongery and the antique oak doors: timeless materials with a modern edge.
