We are looking for 1 labourer and an additional set of hands for a job in Torrington.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stonemason and labourer to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring stone structures with precision and craftsmanship. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from historic restorations to modern architectural features, contributing to the aesthetic and structural integrity of buildings. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a passion for masonry and related trades.
Duties
Measure, cut, shape, and lay stone materials using hand tools and power tools to meet project specifications.
Construct new stone structures such as walls, facades, and decorative features in accordance with architectural plans.
Repair and restore existing stonework, ensuring durability and visual appeal.
Mix mortar and other materials accurately for bonding stones securely.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other tradespeople to ensure project requirements are met efficiently.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Assist with site preparation, including setting out work areas and organising materials as needed.
Qualifications
Proven experience in masonry or stonemasonry is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, trowels, as well as power tools including drills and grinders.
Knowledge of bricklaying, masonry techniques, and carpentry is advantageous.
Ability to read technical drawings and interpret architectural plans accurately.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on craftsmanship and quality standards.
Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights safely.
Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in masonry or related trades are preferred but not essential.
