Today, Dunadd faced off against Aberdour in the final of the Challenge Cup. With a few injury worries the team faced a difficult match against the team sitting just below them in the league.

'Dour started the stronger and scored two early goals.However, Dunadd are well accustomed to being behind and making things hard for themselves, so no panic.

Unfortunately, the injury troubles continued as Goalkeeper Gorrie had to retire through injury, leaving Grace Drummond, recovering from a broken hand, having to pull on the no.1 jersey.

Dunadd settled though, and pulled two back through goals from Eilidh Cameron and Iona McCulloch leaving it 2-2 at halftime.

Into the second half they played and it was more of the same from the tricky Aberdour strikers; the East team pulled ahead again but each time they did, Dunadd replied with goals of their own, Cameron and McCulloch both on braces, 4-4 with 15mins to play.

Aberdour were really testing the Dunadd defence but Hetherington and Nicolson were up to the challenge, both having excellent games. Drummond in goal was also able to keep the scoreline within touching distance but with 15mins to play the Aberdour forwards managed to break through twice and leaving a mammoth task for the Argyllshire team, 6-4 with only 8mins left to play!

Dunadd have proved time and again that they never give up and so Cameron replied instantly 6-5. Could they take it to extra time?

No, is the answer as, incredibly, McCulloch stepped up claiming her hattrick, shooting high into the net, with Cameron finishing in equal style to calmly claim her fifth of the day.

Never worried! 🤣😅

Today, in a crucial league deciding match, Dunadd faced off against leaders Badenoch. A win for Badenoch would secure the National Division title; a draw or more for Dunadd would leave the title in their hands, should they then go on to win their three remaining games in hand.

Dunadd started the stronger of the two but squandered their early chances. Badenoch then scored a tremendous goal on 5mins, unsaveable by Gorrie in goals.

Dunadd pressed on and again created more chances but it was Badenoch who instead increased their lead to 2-0 on 14mins.

However, Dunadd knew that they could still come back into the game and the sustained pressure was rewarded on the half hour mark when a cross deflected in off the Badenoch defender.

Could this stroke of luck spur on Dunadd? The exact opposite! Badenoch hit back a minute later to again take a two goal lead.

The Single Team Cup Champions had found themselves in this exact position, being 3-1 down last weekend, so there was no panic. They knew what they had to do, and they knew that they can turn matches round, as was evident last weekend.

With an injury plagued side, Dunadd couldn't look to their bench to help get themselves back into the match. Instead some tactical positional changes were made at HT.

Disastrously, Badenoch scored straight from the throw up leaving Dunadd with three goals to claw back now. Even though they were in this tricky position, there was nothing between the teams except for the fact that Badenoch were finishing chances, and Dunadd were frustratingly wide multiple times.

However, Dunadd had a hunger and confidence in their abilities. On 56 mins they clawed one back, Eilidh Cameron finishing, as she knows how.

She then went on to secure her brace on 63 mins with another excellent finish. Kudos must go to Eilidh MacIver from Badenoch for sticking to the top goal scorer like glue. However, with now 35 league goals to her name, Cameron was just too hot to handle. Dunadd were finally being rewarded for the possession and chances they were creating.

However, the crucial equaliser just would not come. Badenoch dug deep; they were all but crowned league winners as the match moved into injury time.

With minutes to go, again Dunadd chances went excruciatingly wide. It looked like it was all over. However, with seconds to go, Dunadd again broke forward and Tia Gorrie and Ailsa Crawford found themselves in a 2 v 1 situation. The ball from Gorrie was squared to Crawford and with only the keeper to beat, she finished in style slotting the ball high into the net and again the Dunadd bench went wild.

This indeed turned out to be the very last hit of the game. Referee David Anderson blew his whistle and the dream of the treble continued to burn 🔥

FT 4-4

Dunadd's coach Laurene Cameron had nothing but praise for the entire team: Goal keeper Ashley Gorrie pulled off stellar saves, Anna Nicolson again played a blinder at the back, supported by youngster Kathryn Morley, whose ability goes beyond her years; our midfield line (Iona McCulloch, Eilidh Cameron (jnr) and Crawford/Gorrie) ran themselves into the ground without the relief of subs; our super strikers stayed calm despite the deficit to chase. Playing with a depleted team and still getting a result is arguably the result of the season, keeping the dream alive!

Many thanks to our travelling support, our injured bench warmers, willing to come on (only if absolutely necessary!), bus driver Ronald and obviously the Badenoch girls who really tested our resolve today. Thankfully, there is no game next weeked which will give us time to rest, recuperate and come back stronger than ever as we face our second cup final. History was made today as Dunadd faced off against Glenurquhart in the inaugural Single Team Cup. The introduction of this cup, as well the newly introduced Premier Cup too, is representative of the growth of the women's game. An Aird was selected to host both these cups, and referee Craig Scott was in charge of both.

Dunadd had a slow start and conceded early but didn't let heads go down. Soon after Eilidh Cameron equalised with a stunning strike high into the top left corner.

With this, Dunadd were hoping to press on. However, it was Glenurquhart who instead stamped their authority and replied with a goal from their same forward - Rowan Brockie in top form today.

Dunadd gave themselves a shake and started to play some better shinty. However, it was Glenurquhart who had the more clinical forwards, with Brockie scoring a hat trick in the first half hour.

Dunadd were not out of it yet though. Full centre Grace Drummond found herself in space and shot, looping the ball over the keeper's head. The comeback was on! 3-2 HT.

In the 2nd half Dunadd sorted out their defence and looked solid. Anna Nicolson and Kathryn Morley were quick to mop up everything that came their way and kept the Glen Urquhart forward line quiet.

It was the Dunadd forwards who looked hungry for goal but the shots kept going wide!

At the other end, Ashley Gorrie pulled off some wicked saves to keep it tight. Could Dunadd make the breakthrough to take the tie to extra time?

Up stepped captain fantastic, Eilidh Cameron, to turn quickly and slot the ball home 3-3 FT, and into extra time we went!

Dunadd dug deep in extra time to keep the pressure on the Glen Urquhart back line, but it was a stroke of luck when referee Craig Scott deemed that the Glen Urquhart goalkeeper had touched the ball twice when taking a by hit. It was captain Cameron who stepped up to take it, firing the ball to the left of the keeper, giving Dunadd the lead for the first time all game!

In the second half of extra time Dunadd continued to pile on the pressure as Eilidh Cameron managed to evade the two Glen defenders and took a shot from distance that ended up in the bottom right corner of the net. The Dunadd captain had a phenomenal performance today, chasing every ball and fighting until the final whistle no matter how many Glen defenders surrounded her.

The full time whistle brought a blend of relief and ecstasy to the dunadd players and supporters, as the substitutes and coaches sprinted onto the pitch to celebrate. Full time 5-3! We are delighted that Anna Nicolson received the player of the match award after a very challenging game at full back
