Today saw the first ever meeting of Beauly and Dunadd in the second round of the Single Team Cup. Dunadd saw off Glengarry in the first round, and were excited to draw the newly formed Beauly as it's always great to play new teams in new venues.

All plaudits must go to the home team for the way they approached the game. They were definitely up for the challenge and were extremely well organised, plus their physicality matched or exceded, the Dunadd players. However, ultimately the strength and depth of the Argyllshire team was too much for the newly formed Highlanders.

Goals from Dunadd:

Iona McCulloch opened the scoring with a long range shot that nestled in the top corner.

Rosie MacDonald, despite suffering from the Kyles lurgy, put a further four past the keeper to round off the first half.

In the second half, MacDonald added another, Eilidh Cameron (snr) pitched in with a hattrick, Anna Airlie scored a lovely strike, and Eilidh Cameron (jnr) rounded things off with a double. Final score 0-12.

Contenders for goals of the day:

Iona McCulloch from range (unlucky not to score more - the Beauly keeper was on form!)

Anna Airlie- nice wee left handed strike, top corner. from 30yards out.

Eilidh Cameron (jnr) - net burster from the right 🔥

Today saw a massive top of the table clash between league leaders Badenoch and undefeated Dunadd in 2nd place. That was how the National League finished last season, and one that the Argyllshire team would like to remedy this year.

The game started off with good pressure from Dunadd - unlucky not to score with their first piece of link up play. The team opened strongly but then Badenoch launched a long ball and caught the Dunadd players out on the break, 0-1.

Badenoch then had a spell of good play. Dunadd's defence had to be on top of their game to hold them off. However, halfway through the first half they went on to double their lead despite it being a fairly even contest.

It truly was a great game for the neutrals, with both teams going all out, eager to keep their unbeaten runs.

In the second half, Dunadd knew they needed the next goal, to keep the tie alive, and that's exactly what Eilidh Cameron (jnr) did, tapping in a rebound from close range with some excellent follow-up play.

However, Badenoch responded well, scoring from distance, from wide on the left.

Dunadd heads did not go down, everyone kept fighting, still knowing there was still all to play for. It really was a great team performance from Dunadd, every player giving their all. After continued pressure, the Badenoch goalie saved well but then was judged to have kicked it, penalty Dunadd.

Up stepped Eilidh Cameron (snr) who buried it expertly, calmness personified.

As the match closed in, it was all Dunadd pressure. Unfortunately, that final goal to tie the match, just would not come; with three shots going narrowly off target in the closing stages.

Final score 2-3.

The result did not go Dunadd's way today, but there's no shame in losing to a quality side such as Badenoch. Many thanks to them for the fiercely competitive match.

Dunadd would also like to thank the home support who turn up week in week out, and referee Rab MacAskill for his huge efforts to help us out today.

Next Sunday, Dunadd are again at home, this time facing local rivals Inveraray, in the first round of the Challenge Cup. This is sure to be another great spectacle, so please come along and support us as we look to claim some silverware this season.
