Surface Design Show is the place where people immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers and specifiers. Revealing the lastest innovations in surface design, over 175 UK and international suppliers will showcase their materials at the Show. Ubuild were one of the fantastic exhibitors at Surface Design Show 2026 and they built our Workshop Stage 🌟

Seeing their system in action on our show floor was the perfect demonstration of what U-Build is all about. U-Build is a modular timber construction system built around simplicity and circularity. Conceived as a low-impact building system, all parts are fully demountable and recyclable, from garden studios and self-build homes to commercial fit-outs, pop-up spaces and, as we now know first-hand, exhibition stages. No concrete foundations, no specialist skills, no waste. Just beautifully simple construction that can be taken apart, reused and reimagined.

We had a great conversation with Perpetual Ash from Green Grads at SDS 2026.

She spoke about her work transforming waste materials into ceramic glazes, and showed us her impressive collection of pieces created using discarded ci******es and construction‑site waste, a powerful example of how design can give new life to what would otherwise be thrown away.

It was a pleasure catching up with Elis from e.L.s. designs and Green Grads at SDS 2026. She showed us her contemporary thread‑wrapping artworks made entirely from repurposed materials, layered silk, cotton and nylon transformed into striking, sustainable pieces. She also shared her vision and exciting plans for future growth.

Looking back at Surface Design Show 2026 (3-5 February), the event that starts the design calendar for architects and designers from around the world with attendees from over 50 countries.🌎

Over three inspiring days at the Business Design Centre, we welcomed the industry’s leading practices and creatives, including attendees from Squire & Partners, Heatherwick Studio, WilkinsonEyre, Stanton Williams, Arup and many more, all coming together to discover the latest in surface material innovation, sustainability and design thinking. ⭐
