And that’s it — the sign is down.

Today, McLaughlin’s Hardware closes its doors for the final time after 111 years of serving our community.

We want to express our gratitude to all our customers, neighbours, and friends who have supported us through the decades. Your loyalty and good humour have been the cornerstone of our journey, and we’re honoured to have been a Derry landmark for so long. ☺️

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re also excited for the next chapter and wish the very best to the new occupants as they bring something new to the area.

A HUGE thank you!... 😊

We've been absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible response from our friends and customers these past few weeks. As you can see in the photos, the shelves are nearly bare!

Now, we’re looking to sell off some of our larger downstairs shelving and display items. This includes large wooden shelves behind the counter, filing cabinets, key-cutting equipment, and even a few antique treasures we've had on display.

We also have a limited selection of teapots, saucepans, fire baskets, and fireside accessories available.

Having served customers for over a century and rising from the ashes several times during the Troubles, a chapter in the retail history of Derry will end next month.

McLaughlins to close at the end of November.

We are writing with mixed emotions to announce the closure of our shop, as the premises has been sold. While this marks the end of a chapter, we are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and loyalty of our community over the years.

We are proud of the legacy our family has built, but the time has come to move on. We hope that the building will continue to serve the community in new ways.

In the coming weeks, the shop will offer reductions across existing stock, as well as our lucrative key cutting equipment and shop fittings. Keep an eye here on our page for offers or pop into the shop in person, even just for a chat. ☺️
