🌧️ Is rainwater drainage being considered early enough in your flat roofing project?

Rainwater calculations may not be the most visible part of a roof design, but they are essential to its long-term performance.

An inadequate drainage design can lead to standing water, overwhelmed outlets, additional loading on the structure and, ultimately, an increased risk of water ingress.

As part of SILTEC’s technical support service, we can provide project-specific rainwater calculations to help establish the number, type and size of outlets required for each roof area.

Our Technical team will consider information including:

• The size and type of each roof area
• How water flows between different areas
• The number and proposed position of outlets
• Outlet and pipe sizes
• Proposed sump depths
• The building’s use and required factors of safety
• Green, inverted and low-fall roof areas

To complete the calculation accurately, we require full details of every roof area, together with clearly marked drawings in PDF or AutoCAD format.

Completed calculation reports are normally provided within seven working days, helping architects, specifiers and contractors make informed drainage decisions before work begins on site.

It is another example of how SILTEC supports a project beyond simply supplying waterproofing materials—from the initial design and specification through to installation and completion.

To request a rainwater calculation or discuss an upcoming project, contact our Technical team:

SUMMER BANK HOLIDAY IS COMING… GET YOUR ORDERS IN EARLY

The August Bank Holiday weekend is nearly here, and whether your plans involve a b**r garden, BBQ, festival, scooter rally or simply switching off for a few days, there’s one thing you don’t want to be thinking about…

The materials you forgot to order.

So, before the out-of-office replies go on and the tools go down, here’s a quick reminder:

Need delivery before the Bank Holiday?

Place your order by 12pm on Thursday 27th August for delivery on Friday 28th August.

Orders placed after the cut-off will be scheduled for delivery from Tuesday 1st September.

Our Portsmouth Trade Counter will also be OPEN as normal on Friday 28th August, 07:30–17:00 for collections and those inevitable last-minute top-ups.

And it’s a busy Bank Holiday weekend this year…

Victorious Festival here in Portsmouth
Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally
Reading & Leeds Festivals
Creamfields
Notting Hill Carnival

So whether you’re heading to a festival, crossing over to the Island, firing up the BBQ or doing absolutely nothing (which sounds equally appealing), get the roofing materials sorted first.

Then you can switch off for the long weekend knowing Monday morning is already covered.

Get the job covered. Then enjoy the Bank Holiday.
