When you hold a vision in your mind's eye for as long as I have, I'm not surprised that when I took a crazy leap to quit my day job less than three months ago and finally commit to building my business, the Universe conspired to fast track me to my ultimate vision (even before feeling completely ready!) But here we are...

Ostara Home Interiors now has an official home at the fabulous in Outwood, Surrey.

A real 'pinch me' moment and dream come true. It's a short drive from Reigate and Redhill and boasts a fabulous farm shop open Friday-Sunday where you can pick up their own delicious meats and eggs (all ethically pasture-raised), and even grab a coffee or a burger.

With open days the 1st Saturday of each month, you can explore the farm with your kids and even visit the resident businesses such as and (which have been my favourite local brands for literally years(!), which is why this is even more wild to me!)

Lots more to come on this, but for now, I'm settling in to my new space this week, finding my feet and finishing some pieces that you'll be able to come look at in person soon!

Here's to new beginnings. πŸ€βœ¨οΈπŸ™

Two years after being commissioned to help bring Becca's whimsical family bathroom vision to life, it was such a joy to see this vintage cabinet in situ, being used as the bathroom vanity of dreams! ✨️

After all this time, the paint finish is holding up brilliantly. πŸ‘Œ

Paint colour is Damask, inside is , and everything topcoated in 🀍

I actually forgot I had this piece listed on Ebay.

It had been sat in my workshop for a few years, and I was thinking of repainting it.

Out of the blue, it sold. I got the notification. It was perfect for someone out there. Just as it is.

Today it was collected by a courier and is off to its new home in to South Wales.

Today is also my last day of my proper day job. I'm done. Hasn't quite sunk in yet...

From next week, this will be my world. Refinishing, reclaiming, renovating. Bringing my dream world to life. Finally.

I'm so ready for it.

Timing is everything. ✨️

Loved this art deco project! πŸ–€βœ¨οΈ

This cabinet came to me after being painted and upcycled at least twice, but in need of a complete revamp to ensure drawers ran smoothly and doors closed properly!

I was able to strip the top and sand down beyond what I thought would be possible (you can see loads of filler in pics- scroll right!) and refinish. I added new runners and stoppers to ensure drawers worked, added magnetic latches to doors to ensure they stayed closed and added new hardware throughout. I stripped the painted wallpaper on the cabinet doors and repainted the entire piece in Ash Black. As my client was looking for an art deco theme to match her beautiful kitchen, I mixed guilding paint to match the new hardware and added geometric corner decorations by . ✨️✨️✨️

Well hello there! πŸ‘‹ 😊

You've probably noticed it's been quiet on my grid, but I wanted to drop in to say hello, and Happy Spring! Hope everyone is having a good start to 2025. πŸ™βœ¨οΈ

I've been trying to slow down this year and truly look after myself. I've been having to prioritise my day job, in January I got back to strength training and of course just being present to look after our not-so-little ones. Furniture restoration has had to take a bit of a rest while I reset, but I'll be back when the time's right! πŸ₯°

Better late than never to share some coasters I designed for Christmas gifts. I used the incredible Paint Inlay designs on top of paint and sealed with varnish. πŸ‘Œβœ¨οΈ

🌟Now Sold.🌟

This beautiful vintage Queen Anne style dressing table (or desk) has been sympathetically refinished with a modern twist.

After stripping the original wood varnish and sanding to a buttery finish, Osmo Oil in Clear Matt was applied to bring the original walnut wood grain back to life, creating a real depth and low-sheen luster to the wood while adding incredible protection.

The body and legs of the table have been painted in Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash and protected with Polyvine Wax Finish Varnish. The original handles have been painted in Fusion Ash and sealed with Polyvine Decorators Varnish in Satin.

The dove-tailed drawers have been lined with Emma Shipley luxury wallpaper and sealed with Polyvine Decorators Varnish, with the sides of the drawers sanded and revitalized using Fusion’s H**p Oil.

Whether used as a bedroom dressing table or home office desk, this versatile piece will be sure to bring character, style and functionality to your space for years to come.

Measurements:

Height at front: 77cm

Height at back: 87cm

Width: 106.5cm (110cm with legs)

Depth: 50cm (with legs)

This piece is available now on my new Upcite page (link in bio!) or feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks for looking! πŸ₯°πŸ™βœ¨οΈ

Well hello there! πŸ‘‹

It's been a while, but I'm back on the 'gram. It was a juggling act over the summer of work (day job), kids, house projects, and having some fun in the sun (when it appeared!) But I'm back in the saddle and excited to share my next project with you when it's ready (we're getting close!)

It's an exciting week... I collected a new commission last night, and this Friday I'm heading to the Painter's Business Academy for a weekend of learning with (we met at last year's event and became fast friends! Check out her work- she's amazing 🀩)

Looking forward to keeping you updated on new projects, the upcoming conference and all things Ostara Home. 😊🀟✨️

Client Commission Highlight 🦩🌴 😎

This isn't actually the final product, but it's as far as I could take it for my client. Let me explain why... 😊

My client is currently renovating her Edwardian villa and wanted to bring character and colour to her family bathroom. Instead of paying eye-watering amounts for an off-the-shelf vanity, she found this gorgeous Edwardian cupboard off e-bay and asked if I could help bring her playful vision to life. In its final form, it will have a thin Corian worktop installed with an off-centre, above-counter basin.

The decoupaged flamingo is a nod to what will be a very large flamingo panel at the back of her shower across the room. I managed to get this gorgeous print of 'American Flamingo' by John James Audubon printed to size by liaising with local printer 'Print Mates' in Redhill (highly recommend- they were great to work with!), so it fit seamlessly.

To prep the piece, I cut out the back to allow for plumbing, applied filler in places, sanded to a smooth finish and primed with Blockade. The outside was painted in Damask by , the inside in 's Arsenic, and all protected and sealed with Decorators Varnish. πŸ‘Œ

What a fun one - can't wait to see it in its final form!
