Dear Friends, Colleagues and Customers,

After 125 years of business, 80 years of which have been based in Scarborough, we have made the difficult decision to close our long-established family firm on 5 April.

Our history is one of resilience in having remained open and profitable through two World Wars and a global pandemic without closing our doors.

In current economic conditions, however, we have reluctantly concluded that we can no longer sustain the uncompromising quality of service in supplying excellent UK-manufactured products at fair prices, which your loyalty and appreciation have recognised for over a century.

A Final Opportunity Following closure, our remaining stock of quality brass period furniture and architectural fittings will be available at reduced prices via eBay. We invite you to continue your support through our digital storefront: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/hesavillfittings

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the generations of customers who have trusted us to deliver quality brass fittings for fine English furniture, based on the original patterns, all Made in England from the finest materials.

It has been a privilege to belong to this discerning and knowledgeable community and to help protect the precious heritage of fine English furniture for future generations.

With our deepest gratitude and best wishes for your work in ensuring that the most beautiful, most sustainable products continue to be made available to all who can enjoy and treasure them.

Happy Easter

The custom of the Easter egg is said to have originated in the early Christian community of Mesopotamia, who stained eggs red in memory of the blood of Jesus, shed at his Crucifixion. The Easter egg also became a symbol for Christians of the empty tomb, and of new life, following Christ's Resurrection. By the 13th century, it was customary for Christians to abstain from eating eggs during Lent, the 40-day pre-Easter season. Hens, though, did not stop laying eggs during Lent and by Easter Sunday there was a massive egg surplus. Egg-related festivities thus became necessary, even when not always biblically related!

Many other symbols and customs surround Holy Week, the period leading up to the main celebration on Easter Sunday. Hot cross buns and simnel cakes are baked. In some households lamb is the traditional Easter Sunday lunch. A walk of Witness (pictured), symbolising Christ's Way of the Cross, takes place on Good Friday each year in many parts of the world, including our home town of Scarborough, together with all the other religious services celebrated during the Easter Triduum.

With these thoughts, we wish you a very happy Easter. Enjoy all the festivities that surround this solemn and beautiful feast.
