10 years ago today, I got this old belt grinder motor from the late Trevor Ablett — and that moment started everything.

What began as making a few knives in my spare time whilst working at Taylors Eye Witness has turned into Michael May Knives, a full-time craft and passion that’s shaped the last decade of my life.

It would be a another year until I finally have the courage to go full time self employed, but this is the genesis of it all.

It’s amazing to think it all started with this one motor. Here’s to the next 10 years of making, learning, and sharpening the craft.
