A dry April with low temperatures brought a tough month for lawn care, seed germination, fertiliser uptake and growth was slow - it really is impossible to predict the British weather these days. However, we constantly have your lawn on our mind, adjusting fertiliser formulations, offering additional moss control options and adjusting w**d control mixtures to ensure the best possible treatments hit your lawn at the best possible times.

The temperature is now on its way up so where you have seen green up and recovery happening more slowly and later than normal you will now see things fall into place as long as you concentrate on adequate moisture. Remember too that our trademark Aqua-Flow treatments can increase the efficiency of your watering by 500%! Ask your Nutrilawn Greenkeeper for advice on watering to ensure your timing and methods of watering are helping and not hindering growth and colour.

It’s hot hot hot but our lawns are looking lush lush lush!!!

Although we all love it when the sun shines, our lawns take a bit of a battering. Make sure you are watering your lawns late in the evening or very early in the morning - when there is no hot sun!

Here at Nutrilawn we are getting ready for a big month of treatment’s in March - which we are all very excited about!

The first treatment of the year is the Early Spring Treatment. Our professional grade feed will kickstart your lawn ensuring the grass gets the best possible start to the year, whilst nourishing the root and enhancing the colour. We will also be applying a selective w**d killer - which will prevent and control the growth of w**ds in the lawn.

We have had a very wet few months - has your lawn suffered from water-logging? Aerating your lawn will help to improve drainage - you can see our Greenkeeper performing an Aeration in the picture above!

Aeration reduces soil compaction, allowing air, water and nutrients into the soil. It removes sub-surface thatch, which reduces moss and encourages the lawn to "thicken."

Good Evening! It’s the weekend - not that it matters in a lockdown - but it is always a great time to jump outside and spend a little time on your garden this time of year.

James, one of our lovely Greenkeepers, did a Scarification in Southport yesterday. Scarification is the most effective moss-removal technique - moss and surface thatch are physically lifted and removed from the lawn, allowing sunlight and nutrients to get to the crown and rootzone, where it's needed.

We hope you and your lawns have been keeping well over the cold (and wet!) winter months. It has been a while since we have posted, but we are back with a bang to give you daily lawn tips, tricks and general knowledge! So without further ado... ⁣

The picture above is a close-up of a lawn with a classic case of Snow Mould. This is to be expected in lawns that have had a snow or a dense frost covering over the winter. Snow Mould is a variant of Fusarium and is common at this time of year. You may have this lawn disease if your lawn has patches which are a grey or straw colour. ⁣
⁣
Snow Mould is common in lawns with high thatch levels, poor air circulation, compaction and/or are faced with persistent wet conditions. The solution is Scarification, Aeration and an application of our winter soil conditioner with an additional application in Autumn. This has the added benefit of giving the grass an extra level of protection against disease and moss.⁣
⁣
