ROYAL MAIL STRIKE !!!!!AGAIN!!!!

CWU members are taking national strike action on 9, 11, 14 and 15 December 2022. We're sorry for the disruption this is likely to cause you. We are doing what we can to keep services running.

How does the strike effect you? or maybe it doesn't bother you at all? Let us know your stories I would be interested to see the impact the strikes are having.

😮 ROYAL MAIL STRIKES. 🤐

Are your parcels not turning up or really delayed? This could be the issue.

If you are not aware already Royal Mail have been having daily strikes since sept this year causing major delays and issues for the online retail sector not to mention the customers who have paid their hard earned cash for all sorts of items from pet food to one off gifts.

Sadly the issues continue as Royal Mail have strike action planned again for Thursday the 24th Nov and Friday the 25th. While 2 days will not seem a long time, for traders online we see something totally different. The issue for traders starts the day before the strike actions as the items we post out the day before will not get processed until the days after the strikes, which in turn means that the days of the strike do not get processed and so we have 3 days worth of goods sitting in a warehouse waiting to be processed.
The day that Royal Mail staff get back to work they will go out to collect the days collections to go back and add to the already piling stocks, which in turn cause more blocks. 😔

Problem for the retailer is the items that were collected the day before the strike action is now already been sat waiting for 3 working days and as we all expect our goods the next day or at least within 2-3 we start getting anxious. The customer will then notify the retailer that their goods have not turned up and they want and demand to know where the goods are, we are stuck up a creek with no paddle here!

Royal Mail start to sort their parcels out and start to get deliveries out, but now there are other issues. Items will start to get lost or damaged due to the overwhelming amount of parcels in the hubs, so now we have claims to deal with on top of angry customers who have temporarily lost their purchase, but more importantly they will have lost their trust in the retailer they purchased from which means that the retailer who worked so hard to ensure that the goods left in time has now lost their customers through no fault of their own!.

🧐WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP THAT?
A few things we can all do.
1: Check that there are no planned strikes either a day or two prior or a day or two after the day you plan on purchasing an item, which needs to be posted.
2: Check what delivery/courier company the retailer uses.
3: In many cases there are options for additional services like express next day or guaranteed shipping services, choose these if the costs are not to severe for your wallet.
4: Wait a few days. Let the dust settle for a few days after the final strike day then purchase your goods, you may find it gets delivered pretty fast as they will be very ready and keen to clear the deck.

But, most importantly, please think about the retailer when an issue like this comes up. If they are explaining about the strike days, or trying to help you, you may find they are doing all they can to help.
I know myself as a small distributor online every order matters and every customer means the world to us as orders and customers are so hard to come by nowadays with the ever expanding online sites and the major giant companies available. You May find you get a much better response from a small local business than the Huge online retailers and that 1 customer or order that gets lost may mean that 1 local trader will not make it through to next year and that would be another decent trader lost.
