May is the perfect time to get your grass looking back to it's best.
Warmer soil, longer days, and a bit of rain create ideal growing conditions—so a little effort now goes a long way.
What to Focus on:
1. Mow Little & Often
Start mowing regularly, but don’t cut too short. Keeping your grass around 3–5 cm helps it stay healthy and resist weeds.
2. Feed Your Lawn
Grass is actively growing now, so it needs nutrients. A spring/summer lawn feed will boost colour and strength, helping it thicken up nicely.
3. Repair Bare Patches
Got thin or patchy areas? Rake the soil, add fresh seed, and keep it watered. You’ll be surprised how quickly it fills in during May.
4. Tackle Weeds & Moss
Weeds compete with your grass for nutrients. Use a targeted treatment to keep your lawn looking clean and even.
5. Water Smart
Rain does some of the work, but if we get dry spells, water deeply a few times a week rather than little and often.
And that's it! A little work now goes a long way to creating a lawn you can be proud of.
